Root Step by step

I need a step by step process on how to root my HTC Incredible please help!!!!

Check out this link. Start at the link for installing drivers (if Windows). Then install the Unrevoked tool, run it and follow the instructions as you go. You'll need a USB cable to hook up to the computer. Pretty straightforward these days.

here you go step by step
1) vistit unrevoked
2) download unrevoked forever version 3.3
3) run reflash_package.exe
4) plug in phone, enable USB debuging
5) sit back and let the unrevoked magic happen.
6) wipe data/ wipe cache, go to advanced wipe dalvik and wipe battery stats.
7) flash skyraider 3.5
8) ENJOY!

i'm a newbie first of all and i'm trying to install the recovery tool and it's just stuck on screen it says "waiting for device" and nothing ever happens, it's been sitting that way for about 30 minutes now. I tried stopping it and starting over again and I get the same thing. I even tried unplugging and plugging the phone back in but when I do that it says no device found. What am I doing wrong? any help would be appreciated.

make sure usb debugging is enabled and its set to disk mode not just charging.

that was done before I even started it, what else could it be?

never had htc sync installed

hmm thanks for the suggestions cipher but I think i'm just going to fork over the money to get the registered version of pdanet, lol. thanks anyway.
