Still Confident Bravo is coming to Verizon

Hey guys, let's don't let this turn into another queerfest. hahaha! (I couldn't even type that with a straight face)

On a side note... Don't know how many people noticed, but the original leaked photos of the N1 from Unlockr showed the phone apparently still in development, because the buttons on the bottom are in a different order than the Nexus One that is now being sold to the masses.
...

The original photos also have the HTC logo at the top of the phone near the earpiece. The Nexus One is not branded in any way, shape, or form on the front of the phone.

Uuhh... because they need to sell contracts...since that is how they make their money. I dont think it would be easy selling a contract without selling a phone with it. (or in most cases paying for part of the customers phone) Of course they want the droid to do well. They lock in $30 a month for 2 years for each customer who gets one. They will pay Moto in order to give it to the customer at a reasonable price...and make a fortune of all the 2 year contracts...which is what they are in business to do.

Yet Verizon sells phones, actually they sell all their phones, on month to month contracts as well. So if you want the Droid you can pay a little more for the Droid then the N1 and not have a contract. So I guess Verizon isn't making money off those sales either eh?
Also since when did moto give Verizon all those phones for free without Verizon paying a dime for them? I mean thats what must happen if Verizon doesn't get any part of the sale right?

If it means anything the original pics said the phone was the Dragon.

BradGfromBoo I do not think they make any money off the phone sale for a customer who buys the phone with a 1 or 2 year subscription; but for customers who are renewing there services or buying a phone out right yes they are making money off those phones. I do agree with you that they make most money of the contracts(services) they sell.

Do you even know what you are saying? I know the english language is confusing but.... I think you have lost track of what i was saying.

Yes... you can buy any phone for a much higher price without a contract. This is because verizon wont pay the company (moto/htc) anything for your phone. you will be paying the manufacturing company the full retail price for the phone. Like i said before... verizon will get kickback depending on how many units the sell... just like every single retail business operates. At full retail price you are correct... verizon is making almost nothing off of these sales.

You act like verizon makes money off of phone sales. "Verizon wants htc bravo because they will make more if they can sell it in store" Wrong wrong and wrong. If verizon feels the nexus one will bring the same amount of contracts as a bravo would, and they feel the bravo would bring no additional customers then there would be no reason for them to want it. This is all I am saying. Since they are nearly identical they might not care whether or not they get the bravo.

The main reason this point was brought up in the first place is because everyone is saying how much more money verizon would make off of phone sales since the N1 Is sold online and the bravo would be sold in stores. People must think that verizon will make less off of an online sale of the nexus one than off of an in store sale of a bravo. This is not the truth...the truth is that verizon makes money off contracts, and could care less which/how many phones they sell other than the fact that many people buy a phone with a 2 year contract...

It was all speculation. Now in retrospect we know now that the Nexus One's profile actually has the phone as the Passion. What was the HTC (codename) Passion is the Nexus One. The Dragon is still a mythical device OR it was the name used in the earlier stages with the first prototype builds OR we haven't seen it yet. Don't know.

I don't think that the average Verizon customer, or potential customer, knows the difference between an N1 and the Bravo or any other phone. They will sign or renew a contract for whatever advertising tells them is the newest, sexiest or best phone.
It's all marketing. All Verizon wants to do is get them in the door. How many of their customers have even read one of these forums. Also with every new phone they sell a ton of extras..cases,batteries,insurance,chargers, etc. It's like undercoating and rust proofing on a new car. Just get them in the showroom.

Since google is only selling online, most people won't know about it and make a new contract. So, I think that they will get the Bravo so in-store shoppers will see it and make a new 2 year contact.

This is what I am hoping too. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the N1 continues to suck in sales numbers. Even tho i am still not convinced that verizon even cares how crappy their phones are. Until the droid i cant remember a quality phone.

Well, the Nexus One right now is only marketed to people who are geeky and into google's services. Google just wants it on every carrier. I'll bet we get the Bravo. It's either us or ATT because of their promised HTC android smartphone.

Excellent point. The vast majority of subscribers probably walk into a Verizon Wireless store, or even visit the website, to see what's new. The Nexus One will never be an option for these folks unless they hear about it word-of-mouth and search it out.

It says in the HTC leaked roadmap: "Enhanced Video: The Incredible delivers and unrivalled media centric experience that does not stop with hardware. With Dolby and DivX, you really can enjoy and enhanced media experience on the move."

What is DivX support?

Yes you do seem confused by the english language. So far you have said the following: Verizon gives you a phone after you have given them some sort of payment. Afterwards Verizon gets money back from their giving you a phone. What word would you describe to this process? Most would describe it as a S A L E. You've also said "Yes... you can buy any phone for a much higher price without a contract. This is because verizon wont pay the company (moto/htc) anything for your phone.". That of course is a complete contradictions from your earlier statements. What was your earlier statement? Oh yes "Verizon doesnt sell cell phones brah". So if you get a phone through the Verizon website on a month to month contract what is that called? Charity? Theft? No its called a SALE.
You seem forever lost that I am saying Verizon gets all the money of a phone sold by them. What I have actually said (and in small words no less) that they would get more money from a phone sold in their store then one sold through Google's website. Even if its simply the kickback from the manufacturer thats still more money for them.

If any carrier in the US is getting a phone called Bravo its AT&T or Tmo. Next up for Verizon is the Incredible, next up for Sprint is the Supersonic, Tmo hasn't been rumored to be getting another HTC android (HD2 is their next HTC phone).

For my 1/4 cent, I thought that it worked as such: Verizon would buy i.e. 100 Moto Droids for their retail price of i.e. 120 bucks; then, VZW would sell that phone to the 2 year contact person subsidized for 50 bucks, and 150 bucks unsubsidized month-to-month contact. Over the course of a year, that person would have extra charges added to their bill paying off that phone. Once that year is completed VZW would have a profit of 30 bucks.

Interesting. Explain your theory? Believe it or not, this isn't fair preschool. THey don't take turns getting really good phones. They do something called business, and yes, it can be brutal.

is this also the media sync wireless, that iv mentioned from day dot!!!!
Newsradio, as much as I think your theories are true, those facts have been common knowledge since day one of the Bravo being announced.
