Still Confident Bravo is coming to Verizon

No i don't have any privileged info in demo colors, just have read on the internets. hey ruben, isn't the bravo the same resolution as the nexus? sense should port easily for resolution, but function is where the concern is. i have never been happy with flashing devices, something is ALWAYS amiss.

Yes, they are. I felt the same way and have posted as such.

"Yes, it will be ported over; it just will never work as well as a "pure sense-device"

It's a shame.

That's my same concern with rooting / flashing to get some of the additional functions. I don't even know anything about flashing a new ROM onto a phone except the stuff I've read, but it always sounded like something where not every single base will be covered as if you were using what was provided by a manufacturer.

On the Bravo subject, I'm still concerned with the RAM specs that are being stated. Some sites still say 256mb RAM, and I know others have said it was supposedly bumped to 320mb RAM. Either way, that's still less than the N1, and once the N1 gets some updates to more adequately use all of its available RAM, it would hypothetically always outperform the Bravo. I know the specs are still questionable as there has been nothing totally official, beyond the leaked roadmap. We'll see...

All this considered, there's still the question of if it will come to Verizon and in a timely fashion. I hope so, more options is always a good thing. I'm so turned off of the N1 just because of the whole purchasing process and risky lack of support if you have issues. If it was available in stores I'd definitely buy it over the Bravo as long as it beat it out with specs. Sense sounds nice, but it also sounds like it has it's good and bad vs regular android w/ no overlay.

Sadly, I don't think we will hear anything for sometime about the Bravo.

First, i'm sure Verizon will give some time for the Palm Pre/Pixi to flourish.

Second, if rumors are true, and the Apple Tablet is being released on Verizon and At&t, Verizon doesn't have any incentive to try and combat the announcement by announcing something sweet they have to offer to try and take some of the focus off of Apple. Not to mention the Palm phone being released right around that same time also.

My two cents.

For all the RAM people are still complaining about home screen lag on the N1. Though in reality the only outperformance, if there was any, would be in number of apps running at the same time. I suppose that might mean something if you spend most of your day on your phone and are an overly addicted app freak. Other then that I don't know if your normal Incredible user will notice the difference.

Yeah, but we know right now that Android is in need of a kernel update to address more of the 512MB of RAM on the N1. It was confirmed by Google. As a matter of fact, reports are that there's less available RAM on the Nexus One than the Droid.

WHAT?! The phone isn't letting you use all of it...? SO confused. :S

Thats why I like Sense. It at least seems to be optimized for the phone. Its biggest problem is been that its stuck on 528mhz chips for the last several releases (though the Hero line seemed to get faster with each release).
But here's a question. Which would you rather have, more RAM or multitouch out of the box? Sense phones come with some multi touch by default. The N1 (us version) does not (I know the N1 is capable of multitouch). Not to mention the Incredible (assuming verizon version of the Bravo) will dual LED flash (as opposed to single in the N1) and Divx support where as the N1 will have the noise cancellation feature. Then its personal preferences, soft keys vs hard, trackball vs optical.

I was just reading another thread in the Nexus One section about someone's horror story with a phone that died after 10 days (what with all the HTC support headaches). Another UK guy in the thread I remember raving about the phone a week ago was also chiming in on his rather miserable experience with a recent hardware issue and trying to get it fixed/replaced. I'm starting to think it's the Incredible or nothing. Unless Verizon handles the Nexus One differently from the HTC/Google/T-Mobile debacle, I think I'm crossing it off my list. I have to be able to walk into a store to take care of any problems I might have with a new phone.

In-store support?! HA! I went in to ask about my former ERIS not syncing on its own, and the man gave me a sheet of DROID websites. He couldn't even find the settings either. He was looking in system settings instead of MAIL SETTINGS.

I'm talking about catastrophic issues, like the phone going dead and refusing to power back up, or the battery life running down in a matter of minutes. Not the little issues like configuration and settings. These guys in the thread I was reading, they're dead in the water. Now, it's my understanding that if I went into a store with such an issue, I'd walk out with a replacement the same day (once they checked it out) under warranty. None of this, ship it back and you'll get another one in a couple weeks. Maybe I'm wrong. I've had two Verizon phones so far and I've never needed any support on them.

I think the best we can hope for is that there are different pricing options for the N1 on Verizon compared to Tmobile. But the support options, or lack there of will be the same. Why would Verizon support something themselves that they'll get very little cash on? Thats the largest advantage the Incredible will have over the N1, in store help.
Its possible support for the N1 will get better. Remember HTC is not used to being the 1st line of hardware support. Usually if your phone bricks you take it to the store and maybe they send it to HTC. I assume the store does not care about the time between sending it out and getting it back if they even do get it back.

Verizon doesnt sell cell phones brah. If the nexus one and the Incredible sell the same numbers... Verizon will get the same kickback and that is all..... So why would they support any phone? Its google's doing

Rrriiigggghhhtttt. I guess I was lost on the blackberry store when I bought my storm and confused over all those Motorola paid ads for the Droid. I mean since Verizon doesnt sell phones they wouldn't have need of stores or ads for phones.

Oh. I see. Yes, Verizon is very very good at replacing your hardware same day.

Depending on who you get their good fixing other problems. With my previous phone though I did have to go through 2 other people to find the helpful one.

Uuhh... because they need to sell contracts...since that is how they make their money. I dont think it would be easy selling a contract without selling a phone with it. (or in most cases paying for part of the customers phone) Of course they want the droid to do well. They lock in $30 a month for 2 years for each customer who gets one. They will pay Moto in order to give it to the customer at a reasonable price...and make a fortune of all the 2 year contracts...which is what they are in business to do.

can someone let me know if the nexus 1 picture was leaked BEFORE it became official, thanks

As Ruben said, yes. It was leaked in October. The 25th to be exact. Check this link out and note the date of the article. It's the first time an image of the phone hit the internet.

On a side note... Don't know how many people noticed, but the original leaked photos of the N1 from Unlockr showed the phone apparently still in development, because the buttons on the bottom are in a different order than the Nexus One that is now being sold to the masses.

So to reply to Newsradio, I think that leaked pic is probably legit for the Bravo, but if it takes two more months to come out from original leaked pics like the Nexus did, we could see some minor changes in how the final product looks. It'll probably be very similar though.

Gotta say I hope it comes to Verizon, and immediately when it's released. If reviews end up saying that it performs as well as the Nexus, then I'll buy it just to avoid Google / HTC's shit support on the Nexus. They really killed my love of that phone with their "online store only" bullshit. I love the look of the Nexus and it overall sounds like an amazing phone performance wise (all glitches aside), but to not have adequate support if the shit hits the fan really makes the decision to buy it very difficult. I hope an equal alternative that goes to the stores presents itself.

Did i miss something? ^snip "the good news is that next week, its got to be official"

Do we have news coming?
