Still Confident Bravo is coming to Verizon

Diddo to the comments that this new iPad has solidified my commitment to buying an Android smartphone over the iPhone. How boring this device is, I mean I may buy it but still... No FLASH?? Are you joking? I tell you, when I first tried the eris I went to mobile.nbc.com and was THRILLED that it loaded flash light and played the tv show i wanted. If Apple can't get flash in their uber fast laptop/smartphone crossover, don't expect it in the phone version. The iPad also suffer from the boring barely customizable home screen, all you can do is move icons around! C'mon HTC, let's do this!

The Ipad just seems like the Large Kindle on steroids. I do love Gizmodo's attempt to say it "assassinated" laptops. not even close but it was cute of them to try. I'd get the Ipad over a kindle, but I wont trade my DV3T for it (as the best model of the Ipad would cost me the same amount of money).

I agree. It's not a "be all-end all" for mobile computing. However, it it conveniant. I think many people will like the thought of on their next plane ride having just the iPad and charger, rather than a portable DVD player, portable gaming system, iPod, charger for each, and a book. Certainly lightens the load. Only half an inch thick and a pound and a half. Definitely much lighter.
Not saying it's great, just that in a world that loves conveniance that device will do well.

I have to agree with everyone so far on the iPad. I'm not sure where I would actually use that thing if I bought one. In my living room in my recliner? If I want to surf the web and look at videos and download music or something I just use my home computer. I guess it would be kinda fun on a trip or something, but how this is necessary if you have a laptop is beyond me.

And yes, I agree that this makes me want an Android device even more. This iPad has a 1ghz processor? Well...if my plans workout, my next phone will have the same speed processor, will shoot 720p video, will fit in my pocket AND will be completely customizable. So...yeah...not being an Apple hater, but I'll pass on the iPad. Sorry Apple...just didn't do it for me. Also, yes, this (to me) means that the iPhone 4G won't be anything too breathtaking either. Maybe a bigger screen or something, but it will be the same old iPhone interface we're all used to, with a few cosmetic improvements and perhaps some UI enhancements (drop down menus, etc.) All around, this makes me even MORE excited for all of the sweet HTC phones launching this year! HTC ftw this year!

Except once you have 1 game and 1 DVD movie on it your space may be gone if you only get the 16gb version.

Would have it killed them to have included a removable media? Movies would fit nicely on there and the data read rate would be plenty for them. I mean, macbooks have SD slots, how did that not make it into the hybrid? I like the idea of sub $500, higher than that and I really need to see a killer app.

Exactly. At 32 gigs you're at $600 (no 3g) and $700 for 64gigs (still no 3g, $130 for 3g on all models.....which is the price of the phone you'll be tethered to?). If you dont have 3g on it, feel free to find a hotspot while you're on vacation. Being that if you dont stumble onto one you cant use the ipad to find the hot spots.

I agree. I was expecting more from the iPad. Sure it's cool, but it would be more of a novelty to me.

Anyway, I'm still rooting for the Bravo on VZW. The next iPhone, as nashdroid said, will be nothing as near as customizable and more as android. But think guys, the iPhone wasn't made for super tech savvy people (like us). It was made for the regular consumer...to be easy...not do anything that would cause lag. So, android will always be better for us, just not necessarily everyone else.

Your making it sound like a threat to your detractors.

I sure hope your right.

Question to all..

Do you think that Android developed apps will ever catch up to the ones for iPhone?
Never -- sad to say. It's just that the iPhone will always be more popular and therefore bring in more developers. I do, however, think once the enterprise nexus comes out, we will get close.

You guys still think something is coming to VZW before the N1 ? Boy do I hope so since I am tired of waiting.... but dont hold your breath.

Wow, am I the only person who thought the iPad announcement was a waste of a day? I mean, if you have money to burn, it's a great alternative to a netbook, but a netbook comes with a physical keyboard, the ability to multitask and use removable storage, and don't most or all have webcams integrated? And all at a lower price. Enough of this non-event. Let's get back to smart phones.

Couldn't agree more. I am sure people are going to buy it to have the next fad thing, but that thing IMO is useless as tits on a bore hog. thats right. I said it. If you don't get the analogy it = waste of my F@*&#&$* time and good use of technology.

Haven't posted in a while. Still checking back every night for news.

Picked up an Eris off Ebay to keep me busy and get my feet wet with Android.

Loving it so far. No problems at all. I was worried about all the haterz out there on the devise, but so far, no problems. (Knocks on wood)

I would even go as far as saying that I might keep it for a while even if something better comes out. The size of the thing alone is the best part for me.

Anyway, hope newsradio has some interesting news involving a phone AND verizon.

Like will there ever be an Android app that will help you find an apartment? Hell if I care. I know there are probably some very useful apps for Iphone that are not available for android. But some of the advertise Iphone apps are just crap and seem to have use for maybe one time.

do you honestly know how this works? really do you, this isnt like finding out a cinema showing time for a film, theres so much to go into, since december it looks like this phone has changed completley, the info will be here very shortly, matter of days, as soon as i get it i will post it a s a p, do you know how hard it is to get this info, and worst than that all you a**holes need proof, so if i cant get this in a email, your all going to say whatever anyway,

I (we) want to believe you.

I honestly feel you've got some valid info, because anyone who didn't probably would have been gone two weeks ago and never say anything again here.

been reading this forum and usually this thread for a while now and am feeling the same way you guys are about the Bravo/Passion (whatever it'll be called). luckily my NE2 doesn't kick in till the end of Feb so im prayin we get a lot more info between now and then, a full blown release wouldn't be bad either. I hope newsradio is legit and i believe he saw something, i just hope he hasn't been posting in the wrong section j/k, we are all android fans/lovers/dreamers so we shouldn't be at each others through for something that is mostly speculation. it's not like he's saying the Holocaust never happened.

anyways, glad to officially be a member

oh one more thing about the "big" apple announcement today. new app, iPeriod only on the iPad. lol

unbelievable, how many black balls? what can i say apart from, get ready to enjoy the bravo, and i do hope verizen, big red, etc, etc, get this, because thats where i see the hate coming from,

I have to disagree with a few people here about Android's Marketplace getting as robust as the app store. I personally believe that there will be a massive influx of apps to hit Android this year and those apps that we all see as useful will become widely available. It is no secret that a lot of useful apps that were made for the iPhone have also been created and distributed to RIM users at this point. If you check out this link:

iPhone And Android Now Account For 81 Percent Of Smartphone Web Ads In the U.S.

Android has made a significant improvement in market share. App developers would be senseless to not attempt to make apps for Android. Until a major overhaul of the iPhone UI happens that allows users to multitask and customize to some extent I believe more and more users will start to migrate away from it. Right now the thing it has going are the apps, the simplicity, the name, the polish, and probably the most responsive touch screen on the market. Android with Sense looks very user friendly and inviting, Android in general is becoming more popular, and Google's name is one that is very good within tech circles. I honestly believe by the end of calendar year 2010 Android will hold upwards of 35% of market share and still be on the rise.

One further thing to consider is the following scenario:

Do you have a friend with an iPhone? (I'm sure you do) Now think of the apps that that friend has on their iPhone. How many of those apps are truly useful? I have friends that have the phone and have apps such as zippo and fart noise maker. Come on, I don't care if you have 2000 or 200000 apps, it's about necessary functionality to me. I hear Apple tout the number of apps in their store, but you have to realize that 92.78% of those are absolute garbage or recreations of garbage. iPhone app developers have realized that when you're dealing with fanboys you can polish a turd and they will want it.

Sorry for the long windedness, hope that made some sense.
