Still did not get the OTA anyone else?

I guess this is what I get for doubting "checkin's" ability to locate the OTA, I will be the last to receive it hahaha. Oh well... like I said before, glad to see it's working for other peeps round here...

8days...

I'm in north central Maryland. I received my notification early this morning, but I wanted to charge the battery before accepting it. The notice has vanished... I assume it will reappear later - or do I have to go find it somewhere? Does anyone know how that works? Thanks!

Almost 5:00 AM and it finally showed up here in South Dakota. I already had the leaks so I know what to expect though, its just good that it will finally be legit.

Uh, damn. Its downloading at almost 2 Mb a second (over wifi of course). It must really want that update.

Georgia: no update yet, leak v3:cool: grrr just did checkin, found update available! then I realized that it was only the fb update that I refuse to do . rats

In your settings menu, click on "about phone". I think you'll see a "system updates" option.

You got it and were running leak v3?

The "system update available" was in my notification bar this morning at 6:20 am U.S. Central time. Lincoln, Nebraska.

It's installing now after trying a battery pull (to get rid of it as I really was happy with 1.5) and "clear notifications." It remained.. so on it goes as of 6:37 am.

Got the OTA eris update this morning installing now...takes at least an hour...however we have 3 other eris' and none of them received the update yet.

Pittsburgher here. My gf got the update this morning, she's on 1.5

I'm on leak v2 and didn't get the update. I tried the 'checkin' method, which was unsuccessful

Verizon must have laid off their QA teams, because this rollout is BS..
If I were in charge at Verizon, I would do it the exact same way. I would roll it out semi-randomly and make sure no single geographical area was over saturated.

What Verizon is doing is what they said they were going to do from day one. Why are you critical of that? Can't wait? What if Verizon rolled it out all at once and 1M phones became bricks, yours included?

Then yo'd have a real reason for being upset.

It finished a bit ago. I did an extra reboot when it was done.

I am reporting my findings in another thread.

For what it's worth, I usually turn my phone off everyday when I get home from work. It's been on constantly since I found out about the update.

For ghits and siggles I turned my phone off last night before work and turned it back on and the update was there. Don't know if it's a coincidence or that somehow forced the update.

If 1.5 is running properly, basically bug-free on your Eris, 2.1 will too, Rick.

Just be sure to do a few things, very simple, to give it the best chance.

It is a new OS, so it does need a reboot or two beyond the one it provides following installation; go ahead and configure your "scenes," etc.. then reboot again.. perhaps even a battery pull.

Then, and this will sound silly, use the device. Start going through it and browsing, texting, emailing making calls, moving around the menus (explore those, they have changed a bit).

I've found that use of the new update causes it to speed up and seem a bit more efficient as it goes on.

1.5 served me well. Don't forget about my and OTD's "good 1.5 = good 2.1," etc theory. ;)

well, i hope youre right! the thing that sucks is that i think my earpiece is on the fritz, sounds like it might be blown. i thought i fixed the problem, but i think its coming back. :( im just worried if i get a new phone it wont be as nice and bug free as this one. oh well, thats life. we shall see.

p.s. still on 1.5 and im getting antsy for the upgrade after what you said. thanks a lot! :p

Hardware frying is the one thing I would not hesitate about returning the device to the store for a replacement.

But yes, you're probably correct in worrying about getting a new Eris as bug free as the one you now own. Perhaps a long, in-store test of it before walking out the door with it. ;)

My daughter's 1.5. She got hers today. Mine is V3 and I may not get one at all. Wait and see. We are in Lincoln NE.
