Help Still not happy

"the update" currently has about seven different meanings.

-- What was the version you were coming from?
-- What is the version you went to?

As an example ... the only update I did was from 5.5.886 to 5.5.893.

I am not 100 percent sure which version I came from. I am currently at 5.5 .893.
That is the update that screwed up my phone.

I heard they're down for maintenance because of the 5G upgrade.

Oh shoot, the cat's out of the bag!! :P

I'm just kidding, don't start googling if 5G is really coming out. I for one don't like the spottyness either and am hoping a new SIM fixes the issue :)

OK. You apparently did the OTA installation the same way I did.

There was a report in some areas where Verizon recommended that you replace the SIM card in your Bionic after doing the upgrade. Did you try that? You should be able to go to any Verizon store and get it changed in a minute.

The very first article referenced in ... http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-bionic/438060-bionic-reference-terms-links.html#post3398984 ... can give you an insight into what is happening.

I would like to know where you are hearing this from also. This phone is really starting to piss me off now.

Since posting about my problems 3 days ago, I haven't had a single glitch. My 4g and 3g signal has been stable. I still can't transition between the two smoothly but if I'm driving, I just set it to 3G and I'm fine. Keeping my fingers crossed.

And no, I didn't do anything- no updates or anything in that time.

I've had my Bionic for almost a week and outside of that nationwide data outage I haven't had an issue. I've had 4g almost all the time. Thought I got a bsod but it just froze up for a second and has worked perfectly ever since. The amount of posts complaining about issues leads me to believe they worked out some kinks hardware-wise. I suggest you guys go to your local verizon store instead of complaining here.

A lot of the problems are "growing pains" as Verizon continues to switch over to 4G. I am in a 3G-only area and went through a period of about 10 days when data would just unexpectedly drop. It hasn't happened since (except for the national outages). We are still at 3G and have our fingers crossed.

Visiting this forum is one way to find out the kinds of problems other people are having and how they are solving them.

The only way you can really go wrong is to think that this forum is representative of all Verizon Bionic users. It isn't.

I hope your assumption about problems being mostly behind us is true. Only time will tell.
