Just noticing the lack of activity here. I'm still using my stock HTC EVO 4G LTE where I installed the officially released Android 4.3 upgrade (but looks like HTC pulled it down), where it installs really easy without needing to modify/unlock the phone or anything. Been using that since February, perhaps 10 months of happy usage now?
It's been nice, but now I'm planning to shake things up a bit over the upcoming holidays when I have time off, by trying to install something newer to keep the phone exciting and new for several more months.
My thinking is that by keeping it exciting, I can tame the "new phone upgrade lust" and wait for prices to drop on the current flagships. I nearly got a Note 4 or Nexus 6, but I think the prices will drop by at least $100 in 2015, perhaps early 2015.
So, what are you planning to do with your phone to keep it exciting and fun to use, without being overcome by upgrade lust?
