Stock Messaging App

honestly, i used the stock app for one day and didn't see any point in staying with it rather than switching to handcent
 
No and may I ask if you are using aftermarket keyboards? I had lag typing when I was using a gingerbread keyboard off the market. I switched back to the original keyboard and no more lag.

Sorry, I never had it freeze on stock or custom firmware. Not sure what could be causing that...but perhaps a full reset is in order. If it persists after that, I would call Verizon cause perhaps it's the phone...
 
I had the same thing happen to me a few times when using stock so I switched to handcent which I had on my droid eris. I have not had a problem since I switched to handcent.
