It's not the apps, it's the sync. Throttle back the widgets for news and weather. And if you have a task killer, get rid of it. It's not doing you any good.

From the home screen tap menu - settings - accounts & sync- then a list will appear (gmail, facebook, news etc) you will have to go through each one just tap one then update schedule this will allow you to Chan the frequency of hm often it update by itself or choose manual update so I won't updates unless you open the app and refresh.

Thanks for the reply,
sync's? Where do I find them? Throttle back means=:) "force stop" "HTC weather sync provider" . How to stop it?

The battery on your phone is consumed in three major areas. First is the display. These big screen phones take a lot of juice to light up and the brighter, the shorter your battery will be. For most people, the auto setting is the most efficient.

The second is the use of the radios. By the radios, I mean the different technologies to connect wirelessly like WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G/4G GPS, etc. these are all basically radio transmitter/receivers. Keeping all of these on all the time will drag the battery down faster than an ocean liner in an ice pack. I'd recommend turning of the GPS and WiFi radio when not it use. If you put the power widget on your home screen you can control these with a single tap.

The third way is the transfer of data. While it's true that the 3G radio consumes less power when in operation than the WiFi radio, the WiFi radio transfers data faster (for the time being). It also does not impact any data quotas from your carrier. To get large files like apps and media (videos, etc.) it's more efficient to do that over WiFi. Even though the radio consumes more power while transferring, it happens so much faster that the overall power drain is less.

Now the comment about throttling back the widgets... A lot of widgets consume data. If you've got a weather widget and a news feed and a youtube widget they all periodically poll their respective servers and update the data to keep the information on your home screen current. If you find that information essential, then set it to update less frequently ... instead of every 15 minutes why not just once an hour? And your mail is a polling service, too, except for gmail.

In addition to gmail, I check 3 POP accounts, but do NOT have the mail app automatically poll every few minutes. One, it saves battery power, and two, i don't get annoying notifications every few minutes for ads about Viagra and home equity loans. If i need immediate response, I use gmail, since that is push mail.

I am going to move this thread to the Inspire 4G forum since it is beyond an introduction.

I not shure what you are saying about threads being moved.

I moved this section of your thread to the section of the forums devoted to your phone. Each phone has its own section. We also have sections for general android talk, applications, developers, as well as non android related sections, sports, movies, politics, literature, etc

One responsibility of staff members is to organized this vast place so that the right users see your threads, that way you get better responses.

Hope that helps, any more questions please dont hesitate to ask

why no task killer? its obvious that there are programs that never shut off once opend. and suck the life out of your phone.

I have not used a task killer at all since my backflip and all my phones are fine as far as battery life is concerned. Sure the inspire battery isn't great but i get 10-12hrs on an average day.

With a task killer yeah it kills the task right on the spot but if you go back a few minutes later you might notice the system reopened that app. I find it best to just let the system do its job and not force stop everything with a task killer causing more problems cause you end up stopping some things that shouldn't be stopped like some system apps that may be running at the time you choose to kill.
