Stopping Jelly Bean from installing

Hello! Over the past week the new Jelly Bean system has installed on two other phones in my household (we all have the same phone) and after playing with it for a while I have decided that I would rather avoid having to install it. Yesterday, however, I began receiving the notifications asking me to update.

What I would like to know is if there is anyway to deny this update altogether? I have been searching around online and have found suggestions, but all for very different phones than mine. I tried some of the simpler suggestions (to no avail) but decided not to try others, since every phone is very different and I value mine and its health.

I'm not very experienced in the world of android phone technology but you will find me competent and willing to learn. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Welcome to the AndroidForums, sharkboy13 :).

Unfortunately, you typically need to be rooted (have special administrator privileges) in order to disable a system update. I don't know the specifics for your device, but that's generally true.

You could try posting a question in the Optimus L9 - All Things Root - Android Forums and see if the good folks in there can help.

Cheers and thanks for signing-up with us here at AF.
