Stopping/Killing apps during boot

is there a way to kill/stop apps/services from starting @ boot/startup, & keeping them killed/stopped. ive tried autostarts & startup auditor, but they dont work perfect, plus they take up space & now start/load @ boot/startup.

im rooted, so i was wondering if there is a file i can edit to achieve the same thing, stops apps from starting @ boot, & from randomly starting.

thanks

I believe task killer will do that, I don't use them and thing they are a waist of time, the apps loading @ start up are most likely not use much resources IMO.

Why would you want to do this? Android os should take care of any apps starting up

they are though, b/c i can use autokiller (starting @ 40-70mb free), & then killing unwanted apps/services, & end up w/ about 102mb free

i thought so too, but "itrackmma", "where", "maps - hotspot service" & a few others wont stay closed/killed.
i can use autokiller, ATK, & manage applications/running services - force close, to kill them, but they just restart 5mins later, & i rarely use these apps/services.

i can reboot my phone, & start w/ ~107mb free, & w/ in 5mins (not doing anything on phone) & my memory drops from ~107 to 40-70mb, thats a big drop in memory w/o using the phone.

so, theres not a file that i can edit to stop stuff from running?

I'm not sure why you are worried about the amount of memory available, if the phone is working properly. Android manages memory quite differently than the way Windows does. Unless you are getting low memory messages, or serious lag, I wouldn't let it bother you. :)

i have gotten the low memory/space msg before, & lag, yes that too, while using some apps, mostly games, the phone will just exit the app right in the middle of playing, as the game gets slower & slower/laggier

I personally think the hero doesn't perform well as a gaming device. Android manages memory well enough for the hero to be a decent smart phone. OCed and using auto killer should be enough to help you with what you're asking. Remember, in android, unused memory is wasted memory. Android is gonna burn battery and move at the same speed no matter how many apps you kill. The only difference is what apps are burning the battery and slowing down your phone, based on what you've downloaded. What I've learned is that android only preloads apps that don't really hog up alot of resources, and something you'd probably open on your own anyway.

i agree about the gaming, it just not fast enough.
i get plenty of battery life, prob 2-3 days on a full charge.
& these apps that are starting, ive only used a few times in 2yrs since ive had the phone, "itrackmma", & "where", & "maps - hotspot service" (what ever that is).

i can reboot my phone right before i go to sleep, kill/stop any unwanted apps, put phone in sleep, wake up & everything is running; myspace, facebook, where, itrackmma, youtube, maps, settings, cyanogen settings, google search, voice search,,,,,,,,, i think is very odd for these to start by themselves while phones in sleep mode, & w/ wifi/data turned off.

Well I can only go about a day before I HAVE to charge. As for the apps loading at boot, just download a kill all and use it once after your phone runs its boot routine. That's what I do. I'm using system panel from the market. I just let it boot, finish syncing everything, I set my OC frequencies, then hit the kill all, done. I do exclude some apps and all system processes though from the kill all.

so use system panel?

Its what I use. It also has some other useful info, and it has an installer. It can backup apps also, only 3rd party ones though.

What I do is let the phone completely boot and let all your services finish syncing. Go to the app and press end all. That's what I do.
