Straighttalk has throttled me and I didnt know it

Hello, newbie here. I posted a question the other day on why my android ST Galaxy Showcase is only getting .26 mbps. I then emailed ST and I got a call just not from them. He said that they have slowed down my data because I am using too much! I told him I dont download anything, play any games, download music. I do listen to Pandora but not every day and Im on Facebook. When I said Facebook he asked if I log off when im done. I said no. (why would you ?) He said if I dont then Facebook is always running, hence that is why I was throttled. My question is this. I can get on Facebook and then when done I just hit the back button to go back to my main page. However, I also go to Applications, then Task Manager , then running apps and Facebook is not there because Im not on it. Isnt this good enough ? I told the ST rep that but he said no, I still have to log off of Facebook. That doesnt sound right. I now have to wait an entire month for a new service card to be installed. Then he said it would take an additional 24 hours to have my data sped back up....

facebook is one that continues to run, if your on ics or jellybean you can use greenify on the market it kills facebook until you actually open it.

However I cant see facebook running through more then 100mbs of data in one month.

thanks again for replying. this phone is old technology as it is running gingerbread 2.3.6. so can you explain to me what i should do to stop facebook from running....i go to task manager and under active programs i make sure nothing is there. thanks.

On gingerbread the best thing you can do is to actually Log out each time you are done with face book.

Then log back in every time you start it up.

Or just use the browser instead of the app.:(

WOW! I didnt believe ST but I believe you! Well, if I have to do that just to see, I might as well delete FB all together and just pull it up off of browser. thanks again.

Wish there was a better option, they do have task managers that might do it but I have never found one that does what it should and not use more resources, like battery then they are worth.

I don't use the facebook app. I use the browser and put the bookmark on my home screen. Then it's just one click and I'm always logged in. It doesn't use data when I'm not on it.

saw the sim kit for the 5gb and 100 voice minutes on t mobile at walmart for only $30 a month, so you should check it out if you are in their 4g coverage area.
