Root Strange MIUI Problem

Well I got to the point where a 512MB partition was not enough and internal was filling up too, so a bigger partition wouldn't help. So I had to employ apps2sd+ and a custom MTD layout. I used this for a while and it was great.

I swapped the 2 solutions for the 1 and its working out fine for me. Nothing to do with ego. However I do like to try new things.

As I only use a handful of apps A2SD+ isn't really needed either but I like to have the option to install more apps if needed.

Some people just do D2SD to get high Quadrant scores. My new issues is the kernel in my sig knocking out the ability to connect to USB Mass Storage!! :S

I just installed the Coutt Kernel and I may be getting slower data speeds, but its too early to tell.

As for my ext3 700Mb will be more than enough. What do you guys suggest for Cyanogen? I tried Darktremor for a while but it became unstable the more apps you loaded. If I can get Miui to work I'll stick with it a while, but I know I'll get tired of that pretty soon as it looks too much like Mr Jobs' creation. It deos to me anyway.

I'll be honest, I read the thread about that kernel as I was looking for one myself. I wasn't very impressed with what i read. It seemed incomplete so didn't bother.

Back to our off topic sub-discussion, me too but I do have quite a few apps and some big games etc. I'm no where near filling my quota, but I never have to look or check anything and thats all I wanted.

And with Sync off (not recommended for data redundancy reasons), yep, you get stupid fake results of 2500+ in quadrant due to cache right-back.

I still get over 2000 with sync on. Its no longer fake, I/O is faster, but as its quadrant it still has no real world baring anyway

Updated to the OC1113 kernel and got the USB storage back - seems the other one was missing it!!

Seems OK at present :D

Well, maybe we'll agree to disagree on that because I think Miui is Cyanogen based, I have just found a link by eevek himself to that page! At the bottom of the page under his sigi Labelled "MIUI thread" if your interested.

xda-developers - View Single Post - [rom]MIUI 1.1.07 New Camera

I guess it is important as it is the crux of my hypothesis. Its not so important to me as I'm happy with Cyanogen and as soon as my class6 arrives I'll be buzzin about data2sd, its just that I need to know why Miui wont run. That and why are Samosa's so expensive?

sigh, his link - links to the main miui thread created by a non dev
well have to agree to disagree so some bigger research and youll find infact that cyanogen and miui devs have worked together to fix eachothers issues but MIUI is build from AOSP source and heavilily modified with their own stuff.
dig deaper, you should know that in the world of android you cannot take things at face value

i tried the newer bfs that eddyos is on and there is a definite issue with responsiveness overall and its a bit laggy in comparison to the stock miui kernel (there must be a way someone can fork the miui kernel)
tried his CFS one and it was unstable
im now using the vorkernal bfsxmas froyo wififix and its rapid. dont know how stable it is

Used vork on defrost (older version) and never had stability issues. Drain was my only dislike

Shame as it us still the fastest kernel I've ever used. Nothing even clocked to 1190 could match it. Vork is slower now though

i had instability on my old vork with miui so i went back to stock kernel on the same overclock.
this new one is supposed to be more refined so im going to try it again.
my phone dies at 1190. used to be stable at 1152 but now thats not achievable without random restarts.
i think one day this phone is going to suffer the same fate as others where the cpu just cannot cope anymore.

See mine will go max 1152 and used to be stable with Havs 925mV but that's too low a voltage now

Since I flashed the vork and this new one today, I'm gettin way better internet speed and mine haveney crashed at 1190 yet. My battery is 14.8c.

Why do I find that funny? :D

if you have a kernel at 1190 try runnign quadrant, it usually crashes
also that 1190 couttstech kernel has usb issues and the latest one is clocked to a max of 1113.
loving vork atm, been stable for 24hrs on 1113 and ive done about 8 quadrant tests at different times to give it some stress.

Yeah, couttstech 1113 kernel working nice at the mo. I don't OC anyway but at least USB works again! :D

you using bfs or cfs?

if you are using bfs, stick loads of apps in one folder, open the folder and try and flick up and down to get to the top/bottom of the list
note the responsiveness (or lack of) and the slight lag switching between home screens.

Flash vork or standard miui kernel and do the test again, note the responsiveness and realise that while coutts is good for battery its not very responsive.
His CFS one is unstable, hes given me a fix to test when i get chance as im running vork atm

I do want to help him though

I don't have many apps and don't use folders bar the Utilities one (which has 7 apps in it) so I'm happy with it as it is tbh

And, as my sig says, I'm using the BFS kernel

I can run quadrant or quadrant stress test noprobs 1190. Then ill try and load a webpage and reboot received

Ooh your telling me, I haven't been out all day incase that moon comes back and I'm worried because tomorrow I'll need a haircut.
