ook... then forget about what i said before... what recovery are you currently using...

samething happened to me....

go to recovery and format everything but sd card.
wipe everything twice
flash rom
then connect to abd and flash kernel
reboot

How to install MidnightRom if you do not have S-OFF:

First of all you need to have fastboot & adb installed, as well as the drivers for the evo 3d. See This Thread for more information.

Step 1:
Download the latest version of MidnightRom (or the version you want to use), put it on your phone, and install it using recovery.

Step 2: Extract the MidnightRom zip file on your computer. Take the boot.img file that is in the extracted folder and put it in C:\android\platform-tools\ (or wherever you have your platform-tools for the adb at)

Step 3: Reboot your Phone into the bootloader
This can either be done by powering off your phone, then pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons.

Make sure it says "Fastboot USB" highlighted in red. If not, select the fastboot option.

Step 4: Test if it your device has been detected with the following command:

Code:
fastboot devices

Step 5:
Execute this command

Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Step 6:

Reboot your phone using this command

Code:
fastboot reboot

this is the easiest way

Yes with s-on you have to flash through fastboot. But if you are using the 4ext recovery app, you can go into settings and enable smart flash. This should let you flash without the computer.

I know ive been doing that since June, but i used the RUU and now it works again and i want to see what the Update is for this phone so im gonna stick with stock for now. Thanks for you help guys!

Next time you decide to flash, go see if you have smart flash enabled!

i will. And one more question, if i root on the stock rom, can i still update with this new update VM is going to release?

If you are rooted, you can't take the ota update. If there is an update, it's likely there will be a rooted version shortly after that you can flash. The other option is to return to stock, take the ota, then root again. That's assuming that the update doesn't patch any root methods. If you are s-off, going stock and taking the ota will not take away your s-off status. So I guess this answer is yes if you return to stock, otherwise wait for rooted version to flash!

No problem. And now that I thought about it, no matter what you'll be able to root again. The ota won't take away your ability to unlock your bootloader through htc dev. It could however update your hboot and you could possibly lose the option to go s-off should you ever choose to do so.
