Root Stuck in boot loop - HBOOT Hell

Not sure what's going on, and have searched for awhile for a solution with no luck.

I just got a replacement Evo, gained root via Revolutionary, installed amon_ra, did a Nandroid backup with wimax. I then re-partitioned, installed VR_superwipe and performed a second Nandroid backup- I want a good backup before exploring a few more ROMs this time around.

In between the two I had no problem, I booted into stock gingerbread and HTC sense. However after installing vr_superwipe and second nandroid backup I cannot reboot into gingerbread, it comes back to HBOOT. While I'd like to know what I did wrong, I'd like even more to get out of this loop.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would try restoring the 1st nandroid and see if it will boot

I pulled sd to do just this and realized, silly me, that I had just re-partitioned the card and wiped everything away. I do always save my nandroid backups immediately to my computer, so that wasn't a problem, but obviously stock configuration needs these files. My misunderstanding. I was previously under the belief that sd card would be rebuilt once the phone booted again, apparently this is not the case?

Anyway, instead of restoring I flashed a new ROM and all is well.

Thanks for the help, and my apologies for being a n00b.
