Root Stuck in bootloop, can't hboot, using CyanogenMod

Lurker
Hi, egh, I messed up.

I rooted the phone a couple days ago, and then last night flashed the latest Cyanogen Mod. I reinstalled all my apps using Titanium Backup, then started looking around for themes. I misread some instructions for the Incredible Revolution theme ([Theme] INCredble REVOlution [9/10/10 Theme Update! -- CM6 Beta Re-Release] - xda-developers) and used ROMManager to download it from the Virtuous section. It asked me if I wanted to backup and then wipe data, like it does when you're flashing a ROM, and I clicked yes. It did it's thing and then rebooted. It got past the white HTC Incredible screen (a modified one), started to go into the CM Android on a skateboard boot animation, and it's stuck there. I can't even get into hboot or get it to recognize from my computer (I have a Macbook, if that makes a difference). Eek. Help! This problem looks different than the other bootloop problems out there

Thanks

What happens when you try to access hboot? And just to verify, you are pulling the battery, replacing the battery, and then holding volume down while pressing the power button? And nothing happens?

Right, so I took the battery out and put it back in. Then help down volume down and power. The phone vibrated 5 short pulses, and the light that tells me if I'm charging or has a new email is blinking green. And that's it.

In some of my panics last night before finally giving up and going to sleep, I did once try pressing ALL of the buttons (joystick, vol up and down, power) and that gets me back into the same loop I described above. Don't know if tha'ts important info.

EDIT:

Sometimes patience pays off. I gave up on the phone for about an hour, took out the battery again, and this time, it booted into hboot and I recovered from a backup. My phone is alive again! Also, in the meantime, I talked to a friend who told me he once waited (presumably overnight) while a phone sat in a boot loop for 7 HOURS, only to spontaneously recover.

Congrats. It felt strange that you would have vibes & lights and not be able to recover. Glad it worked out in the end.
