Root stuck on fastboot, reboot won't work

New here on the forum, need some help though if ya'll have the time...so my phone went to fastboot to which I didn't do anything to trigger this thing to do it...but that's it...bootloader,reboot, or reboot bootloader dosen't do anything to it....when you do try, it turns off then starts back again to the fast boot menu

Did you try to root it? I have had a fit when I rooted my M8 and erased my backup. What have you done to your phone?

Its not exactly fastboot but rather hboot, i.e. the bootloader. If you're stuck in a loop where all roads lead back to hboot, you might try an RUU to reflash stock.

Default mode for hboot is fastboot mode.

If this isn't related to a failed rooting attempt - remove the sd card, reboot, see if that clears it.
