Root stuck on splash screen kouma kernel 2.5

anyone find a fix? :/
this just happened to me also, i rebooted my phone and forever stayed on the kuoma kernel 2.5 screen
CWM is v5.0.2

I never was able to find out why it wasn't working, I did not try the suggestion two posts up from cwhatever. I'm planning on upgrading to the latest final CT 3.75.2, does that have the fix rolled in to it?

Yes it does.:D

Thanks for the quick reply. Total time to install new CTMod, apps, and backup/restore call and text history was about 70 minutes. Maybe I'll give the SD cards another try a different day

Phone seems a little more responsive but it is hard to tell for sure. I'm gradually learning to only install a minimum amount of apps and limit widgets for best performance. I think my biggest performance drain is the SwiftKey3 keyboard, but it saves me about twice as much time typing as any other keyboard I've tried

I also use the SwiftKey3 keyboard ( paid version ), but I do not experience any lag or performance drain......

I am having the same problem with the kouma kernel 2.5. I have the latest version too and it will still hang up to the point I have to take out the battery and restart. I also have the CT 3.75.2.

Your problem is most likely that either your sd-card is not properly formatted or the sd-card you use is just not working in the Prevail.......... I own a 16GB sd-card myself and this sd-card works EVERYWHERE I put it in perfectly ( camera, mp3 players, via adapter on two of my computers ), but it DOESN'T work on the Prevail !

Just try a different brand of sd-card and partition and format the card with Kouma's SDParter ( included in CTMod3.75.2 settings>>>Partition info ) !!

Started over from scratch again tonight, reflashed 3.75.2 from the new card along with google talk, partitioned sdext it to 1024 then formatted it, rebooted, used SDParter to again format the sdext partition to 1024 (to make sure that wasn't part of the problem before), rebooted, then set KoumaKernel to data. Everything seems to be working flawlessly so far

Right now I don't seem to be noticing the lag, but almost every time I sawvisible slowdown on my phone it was related to the keyboard pulling-up or minimizing, though it was not consistent. Oh well, like I said, even when it seems to be slowing things down, it still saves me time

Exactly one week later, and Kouma Kernel has once again rendered my phone entirely useless. What other alternatives are there besides running CTMod without Kouma Kernel or returning to stock? I can't even run all the basic social networking apps on the stock phone memory

edit:
Additional question, is there any way I can switch from KK to regular mode without having to reflash/reinstall everything if I can get the phone to boot?

edit2:
Got the phone to reboot, but it locked up again (once the screen was off, it wouldn't come back on). After tapping the power button a few times they lock screen showed up with an error - SD Card removed unexpectedly

Have you tried CM7 with the KatoKernel?

I ran the Kouma kernels for quite a good bit when I was running CTMod on my Prevail and had very few problem if any with them. Why don't you give CM7 with the KatoKernel a try and see what happens. I also suggest using the non-ext version of Kato's kernel and then using S2E to transfer your files to the SD card. I've got a TUT in the CM7 thread on how to set it up.

Memory card seems to have totally died - can't access it phone or windows. Since I had problems with two separate cards I'm not sure it is the source

I just followed this post - http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...fficial-beta-5-02-20-12-a-56.html#post4806967

After reading parts of the thread, what are the main issues? I see a maps fix in the OP and a mention of no mms over wifi. If either of those features doesn't work that it is fairly worthless for me personally

If you decide to flash one of the Kato Kernels, which I highly recommend, you won't need to worry about the maps fix because Kato has implemented it into the kernels. If you flash the fix after flashing one of his kernels it will negate the overclock feature.

As for no mms over wifi, well that's just one of those things that we who run CM7 have learned to live with. It is what it is and is just one of those things that you have live with if you wanna run this ROM. I'm like you, it doesn't bother me 1 bit. This is a kick ass ROM and I'm still running it on my Prevail even though it's not my primary phone.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do. :D
