Root Stuck with HTC screen... :( please help.

Hi All,
I tried to root my phone and load a custom ROM in it, i think i may have bricked my phone, sad sad. here is what im getting so far.

1. I can still load to HBOOT and FASTBOOT
2. Going to RecoveryMode goes to my clockworkmod menus
3. Phone is S-ON and on top it shows ***RELOCKED***

Solutions Already Tried
1. Tried running almost a LOT of RUU but cant continue got some message (like customer id error), thinking its a mismatch
2. Tried creating a GOLD CARD using my friends phone but this did not work RUU still fails.
3. Load custom ROM using the clockworkmod it says it install but still stuck with HTC logo when loading.
4.Tried using FASTBOOT to load ROM command prompt but it says signature failed.
5. I cant remove the Clockworkmod it seems

Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to Android Forums, Miceisland.:)

I have moved this thread into the 'all things root' portion of this forum, so that maybe the rooters of this forum can help to find a solution to your phone problems.

1. What RUU's did you try to run? Did you try to install any Sense 3.0 based RUU's (late 2011)?

2. What custom ROM's did you try to install?

I am pretty new at this. But this info might help the more experienced users when they get here.

If you want to try something now I would remove the battery and replace the battery. Go into the recovery (clockwork mod), perform a full-wipe and flash again.

Full wipe:

--- wipe data/factory reset
--- wipe cache
--- wipe dalvik
--- format all partitions other (except sdcard)

GL

your phone is doing all sorts of security checks, since it is still s-on. we will have to figure out what ruu to run,if it comes to that. the ruu will have to:
-be an official, signed by htc ruu
-be the same build or newer than yours
-be for the same carrier/region/brand

so...
do you know what the build number the last official software on your phone was? it will be setup in this format: x.xx.xxx.x example: 3.12.405.7

where are you located on the planet, and was your phone carrier branded?

what is ALL the info on your hboot screen? the hboot version and baseband can give us some clues as to what ruu you need.

can you give us links,or version numbers of the ruus that you have run, that failed?

there are some fastboot commands that can help us fgure it out,as well. if you allready have the sdk set up,you can put the phone in fastboot, and enter in a cmd window: fastboot getvar all and paste the output of that for us.

for now,i think your best option is as ral suggested, simply wipe and try and flash a new rom,or restore a stock backup.restoring a stock backup would be preferable,or flashing a STOCK type rom(htcdev is not cable of flashing kernels)

*in this particular case, you prolly do NOT want to format all partitions, since this may wipe out the kernel, and the rom flash wont be able to replace it.

if you are the one that unlocked the bootloader, you can re-unlock with your original token to get to recovery,or flash a new recovery,or boot it into phone memory.

rest assured,it is nearly impossible to brick beyond recovery any htc phone that is htcdev unlocked,as this method does NOT let you change the hboot or radios.

im sure we can get you sorted :)

I do not know how you figure those things out from the limited info given.

Oh no! I hope I did not wipe out his kernel.

Not too good at trouble shooting. I got my instruction on how to flashing from this forum... End result, 10+ flashes no issues. My biggest error was killing my radio by flashing the wrong RIL (which was based on getting advice from Google Play rather than a Android forum).

I have never had to troubleshoot anything serious for myself which makes me a pretty weak in helping others. Maybe I better stay on watch mode a bit longer.

@miceland

My sincere apologies for the error.

AFAIK RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.6 0.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed cannot be rooted. Flashing is probably your phone is relocked.

The Bravo ROM's are for HTC Desire's.

Best wait for @scotty85, D-U-R--X or CDPlant but this might be the ROM you need. This the stock Froyo ROM for a HTC Desire HD from Vodafone Australia.

Thanks a bunch.

I think i have tried this before but cant remember, what i did was rename this to PD98IMG.zip so it auto loads but this fails.

I havent tried using fastboot to load this will try it now
fastboot flash zip Ace_Vodafone_AU_1.32.178.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M_BACKUP.zip

if there is another way of loading this please let me know.
thanks..

A bit over my head, but can you flash it with Clockwork by selecting it or renaming it to update.zip?

Hold a second though, it looks like your current radio came from (26.14.04.28_M) from this ROM: RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.6 0.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed

This ROM in my link is probably signed.
Is not newer than yours.

Maybe best wait for the others to show up?

the important parts are highlighted. the hardest part will be finding an ruu that matches your CID and has a main version of 3.13.0.0 or higher.

first off,you need to understand the limitations of htcdev,as it is not a complete "s-off" type of unlock. this link should help explain: http://androidforums.com/rezound-all-things-root/587430-s-want-flash-roms-read.html

something you can try before we get too far head of ourselves:

1)re-unlock bootloader *important*
2)place your recovery image into the folder containing adb/fastboot
3)place phone in fastboot,pulg in,open cmd window
4)fastboot boot recoveryimagename.img

this will launch your custom recovery into phone memory. youll see the splash screen, then your recovery menus. as described inthe link, launching your recovery in this manner will let it write to the boot partition. at this point the preferable action would be to restore a competely stock backup.

if you failed to make a backup, try flashing a stockish rom based on 2.3 such as: [ROM] Android Revolution HD 7.0.4 | High Quality & Performance | O/C | Legendary - xda-developers

A bit over my head, but can you flash it with Clockwork by selecting it or renaming it to update.zip?
unfortunately,no. CW is not capable of installing the firmware in the ruu(hboot, radio, etc) :(

The Desire HD is also known as the Ace (this was the development name, I believe). The ones I have highlighted in red are for the Bravo... IIRC, that is the Desire.

I am in work at the moment, but should be finishing in an hour or two. I'll try and help you once I get back to my place :)

good call, mate! running an RUU for the regular desire(bravo) definately will not fix your DHD(ace)

so having said all that,we basically have 2 options:
1)create a gold card. there are a handful of 3.13.x.x roms on Shipped ROMs,so if we make a correct and proper gold card, one of these could be flashed.

id start with this one: Shipped ROMs

its a sense 3.0 rom for turkey() but it does not look to have any carrier branding. its also using your same radio,so performance should be same/similar

the key to making this work is the goldcard wich can be a lil tricky

2)we can use ADB to change your main version. this will involve downloading some things, and running some commands in the cmd window with the phone in recovery mode. at this point,we can simply find any ruu that matches your carrier ID such as the one linked by ral( DepositFiles )

actually there is a step 3:
3) do both 1 and 2,and then you can flash any ruu that exists, such as the unbranded WWE sense 3.0 :)

let us know how youd like to procede,if flashing the rom/backup from a booted recovery as described does now work

edit:
i just downloaded and looked at DepositFiles

i beleive ral is right, that is someones nandroid not a signed ruu. i guess what you *could* try is to restore it with clockwork. put the folder inside the zip file into you clockworkmod/backup folder and then select restore, after doing a full wipe

Thanks scotty, ok so far this is what i have done now.

1. Unlocked bootloader - successfull
2. Try loading the ROM (PD9810000_Ace_Sense30_S_hboot_2.00.0029) Turkey - failed got a message "ERROR[191]: ROM IS NOT SUPPORTED"

Looks to me option 2 is simplier than option 1, lets go option 2.

Hopefully we can fix this phone :(

it says successfull, but again it once restarted it gets stuck at the HTC logo screen.

im sure we can fix the phone. option 2 may be simpler, but there is still a difficulty in finding a vodaphone ruu to pass the CID check, wich, thus far we have failed to do :( im actually thinking 1 or 3 is going to fix the phone ;)

error 191 is because the bootloader is unlocked. part of htcdev's rediculous-ness is the fact that you need to relock the bootloader to run full, signed ruus.

relock your bootloader and try again, and make sure the goldcard is in the phone. if the .exe fails, extract "rom.zip" in this manner:
-run the .exe
-check the "yes i understand" box
-hide the utility out of sight somewhere
-search your c drive for "rom.zip" it should find it in a temporay location(will be different every time you run it)
-once youve found it,move it or copy it to somewhere safe on the PC that you can find it.
-find the utility and cancel it
-rename "rom" to "PD98IMG" and place it on the gold card(make sure gold card is formatted FAT32)
-power on into hboot.it should find the file and ask if you wish to update
-allow the update
-reboot

i can extract for you and upload if you have prollems, but youll have it faster if you extract it yourself. assuming your gold card to be made correctly, the main version is higher and it should flash, and fix the phone.

Also sorry not too sure what image to download onthis step:

4)fastboot boot recoveryimagename.img
for clockwork you can use this:
cwm-5.0.2.7-ace.zip
just download, extract, and place the image inside into the same folder as your fastboot utility.

Tried but it doesnt install, message below from cwm
"Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted"
it wont install, its in a nandroid format, not a rom flash format

Tried installing android revolution hd 7.0.4 from CWM it installs successfully, but when re-started i got stuck again with the HTC green logo on boot up.
did you read the link above? ( http://androidforums.com/rezound-all-things-root/587430-s-want-flash-roms-read.html )

the reason it did not boot is the same: permanent recovery cannot write to /boot.

you must launch recovery via fastboot boot for any hopes of rom flashing ,or backup restoring to work.

Hi Guys, Also tried to do a backup/restore and use the "Ace_Vodafone_AU_1.32.178.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M_BACKUP"

:(
again, you must launch recovery via fastboot boot for any hopes of rom flashing ,or backup restoring to work.

last and not least,i know this hboot locked/unlocked thing can be a lil fustrating, but remember:

*bootloader needs to display relocked in order to run full, signed htc ruus.

*bootloader needs to display unlocked in order to fastboot boot recovery and flash roms/backups

so do not be discouraged... the things you have tried have not failed, just needed a couple of other factors corrected.

since youre currenly unlocked,id prolly try installing the rom or installing the backup first. make sure you fastboot boot recovery, and make sure you wipe data/cache/dalvik cache prior to flashing or restoring.

if you have no success, then relock ( fastboot oem lock ) and try the turkey ruu again

sorry for the delayed response, been a busy afternoon.

2. Try loading the ROM (PD9810000_Ace_Sense30_S_hboot_2.00.0029) Turkey - failed got a message "ERROR[191]: ROM IS NOT SUPPORTED"

this just caught my attention. why did you try and load that? this is simply an htcdev compatible hboot,it wont do anything for you. the ruu you need to try and flash is this one: Shipped ROMs

Oh ok, i do want to confirm about creating a gold card, since i didn't able to create a gold card using my phone instead i created one using my friends phone does this matter?
