I want to force update this thing to at least jellybean, and i can get into recovery mode but i cant navigate because my tablet is generic (some company called SuperSonic) and has not Volume buttons....which from what i've read are the only way to navigate the recovery mode options...its been a year or more since i've tried this i'll provide any information necessary but I have no reason to assume a stock android upgrade would not function...this have 4.1.4 and its stock, nothing special or anything like that. Some step by step instructions and help with this would be EXTREMELY appreciated. Thank you.

I moved this over to the general tablet talk section which is a lot more active than it's previous location. :)

The recovery on your device might not even have a menu to navigate. Stock recoveries can be very limited.

I don't think you'll be able to take an update that wasn't made for your tablet. Where are you getting the update from that you are going to use?

I planned on getting it from the android dev site, i've already got the suite and i assume the update is on that....i havent tried to update it in a long time so i'm not exactly sure...i had it on a jump drive once but when i went into recovery i couldn't navitate to access the file.

Android builds are very device specific. There isn't a "general" or "basic" update you can apply to any device. If you attempt to flash firmware to a device that it wasn't designed for, you run the risk of permanently bricking it. And, because you don't have the stock firmware, there'd be no way to recover from a bad flash. I'd highly recommend not attempting this.
