I'm using StupidFast v1.54 currently. I'm curious: who is using the new one, v1.95? What are the differences between the 2? I'm thinking of switching to the new one but I want to know the differences before making the plunge...

I have ran em both and maybe I am blind, but I didn't really notice any diff at all.

Battery life better?

Nitsuj- i went there, but I was just curious about real life application lol. Sometimes battery changes like 10 min or so, things like that lol. I have it on my SD card, just trying to find out info before the plunge..

Yeah can't help ya there....im a voodoo 5 user atm

At some point (around version 1.7 i think) geek said it hasn't really gotten any better since 1.5, he's just messing around

erosini,

Are you running Stupid fast 1.54 with DJ05? Can you give us an idea of your battery life?

I'm really hating my battery life right now.

Hi
I can provide some insight on battery life. this is prime reason why i tried 1.95. I think this is much better than my 1.5 , I am already on 6hrs, 1hr appox music, 30 mins phone calls, 20 mins video, 40 mins angry birds. I started with 97% ( I am on Darkstar theme with accurate battery), currently on 81%. I am amazed with this. Previous result with 1.5 would be about 50% from what i had exprienced. At one point I was thinking may be battery is bad, so got a new battery for 1.5 but same results, finally figured out it was kernel.
I guess I am happy now, I will let it run for next 24 hrs and see what it does.

Speaking extremely bluntly and as geeknik's beta tester he does a tremendous amount of experimenting. He's also looking for that new tweak which will give a 1% boost. So much props for all the efforts. Equally true, and he has even alluded to this. There is not a substantially tangible difference from 1.54 to whatever the latest test is. Mind you the flash happy will always run the most recent stuff. But we are pretty much at the wall in terms of eclair based performance.
I took choppers advice and am staying away from voodoo for a little bit until I know exactly what it does. Plus i like the way this battery is lasting:D
Once you find a kernel that works for you there is a certain wisdom to saying you yourself "heh this is good and good enough for me." Some get better life, others are higher performing. We all have individual tastes and being content is a big + for me. Having said that Im as flash-happy as the next guy/girl but I do have a kernel or two I always return to when Im not testing stuff

Just remember when doing batt tests it is sub-optimally accurate to make observations/judgements over partial drain results. That is if one kernel drains a lot from 100-60 you cannot necessarily make conclusions just on that apparent 40%. Battery drain is not linear. I've seen battery drain 30% in an hour depending on the use and equally I've made a 20 minute phone call using bluetooth without a single % draining off the battery indicator. So just know its most accurate to do a full drain and then see where you are at and what you got. Now you can often times get a very good indication that some kernels just do better or worse on battery even based on a partial drain
