These are the steps I took for the 'root' to finally work with my phone, after having attempted four previous times.
Computer OS: Windows 7 64bit
downloaded:
Root_And_Bloatware_Removal.zip
run.bat has date/time: 4-16-2011 11:21 AM
extracted contents of zip to C:\souproot
Edited computer path (click start, right click Computer, left click Properties, Advanced System settings, click Enviroment Variables, click PATH, click Edit..., copy line, paste to a notepad, remove line to Android SDK if installed, added this line with semi-colon: ;c:\souproot ,copy new path from notepad and paste into PATH, click OK, click OK, Click Apply, Click OK)
Note: The path can be changed back again to re add the Android SDK if that is installed on your computer.
On computer checked the Installed version of : SAMSUNG USB Drivers for Mobile Phones.exe
If the version is earlier than newer version then
> uninstall previous drivers (Program Uninstall in the Control Panel)
> restart computer
> install new drivers
> restart computer
> plug in your phone
On the phone, press Guide button (lower left), press settings, Applications, Development, place checks on both check boxes (USB debugging and Allow mock locations).
connect phone to computer via usb, let the driver install on computer.
Disable the computer's Anti Virus if needed.
Uninstall Anti-Virus from phone, if installed.
Remove Ethernet cable from computer (did this to keep computer software from connecting to anything).
locate in folder, C:\souproot , the file RUN.bat
right click and RUN as Administrator.
Follow the prompts in the command window and do what is asked.

NICE WORK to all who contributed and created the root/bloat software remover(s) !!!
