Root SUDDENLY SLOW: Rooted icarus metro pcs Ascend

Worked fine for a month or two, but now it suddenly got slow like molassess in the middle of winter.
I removed all non google apps just to see if it would make it quicker, but no, Its still slow.

I also checked using file manager to see if there were any huge files.
despite there being a bunch of bug reports on the SD card, there is virtually nothing on else on it.

what can I do to get my phone fast again? what happened? I clean out the cash all the time.

I'm talking about Advanced Task Killer, it is useless and will only cause problems for your phone. Uninstall for a few days and see the difference. Also you should look into flashing CM6/CM7.

Still don't know how it's ironic???
For battery life just get a power widget and keep your 3G off when your not using it. I can get 2 days out of my phone with moderate use.

androot doesnt work on icarus1.1 you can delete it.
 
Damm. you were completely right. I just removed task killer and now my ascend sped up big time.

Yeah the android os has a built in "task killer" it will free up memory when it needs it. When using the ATK, it is killing the apps but the os will start others to take it's place.
 
I forget. I think I used it to install my custom boot screen or something.

so, do your CM6 & CM7 flashes really speed up your Ascends?

yes, they have overclocked kernels and run at 710mhz instead of the 600 that icarus does. But that is just the beginning of the improvements you will see.
 
Thanks again. before I scale the CM6/CM7 Flash routine (do you recommend one over the other, or is the latter merely an update of the former?) I forget how to turn off the G3 function. can you assist?

For now while your on icarus you should download an app called quick settings to turn off the 3G, i say this because going through the reg settings will take too long with normal use. But CM6 is more stable than CM7. CM6 is based off 2.2 and CM7 is based off 2.3.3. But i recommend trying both and seeing which best suites what you need. Good luck.

The one on the Ivcarus mod, made it really easy for me to install.

on the 3g note, there is a widget you have called "power control" you can turn on and off, wifi, gps, synch, bluetooth and adjust screen brightness.
this widget is also on the cm mods but you can add 3g as an option.

there are a bunch of vids on yt but if you have skype on computer i'll be glad to skype you through it. just p.m me
 
battery life on my phone was nill on the stock rom, it wouldnt last 12hrs. Now I can go all day (24hrs) playing with the phone n not kill the battery.

CM6 runs at 710 but Pip will be releasing 600 versions in the future. CM7 runs at 600 with the ability to run at up to 710. It is a difference between 2.2 and 2.3 operating systems. 2.3 has the ability to change operating speed built into it whereas 2.2 needs an apparently like setcpu to change speed.
 
also you need to move the apps to sd, note: not all will work when move to sd you have to check em out and see how they run once you move them.

The reason i turn off 3G is because i leave auto sync on so when i do turn 3G back on all my accounts sync without me having to go and tap on each of the items. I don't need to be updated every minute but when i do go to check it makes it a little faster.
 
After you mod your Ascend to Icarus 1.1 you mus remember to download the following applications:

SetCPU
Quick boot

Set the cpu to 600.
 
So, yes. after a month phone draining to quickly, especially after adding linkedin app. I just removed it and got a cpu widget, called CPU master. is that ok or do i have to get the exact one you mentioned?

also: where is the autosync function in icarus?
