Help Summary of problems for Triumph

I like the phone. My reception is really 99% same of OV, I was able to make phone calls in places where signal was barely coming in on OV and MT without any difference.
My Main issue is GPS.

- 3 times it overheated using GPS while mounted on windshield, phone would simply refuse to charge when temp went over 43oC. Outside temp was between 90-95oF and sunny.
- Phone gets very hot just simply using the GPS
- Cant get a GPS lock at all indoors
- Looses GPS lock while driving, Db ratio for even 7 sat locks is medicore
- Whenever it tries to lock in GPS, data gets dropped from 3G to 1X like there is interference between them

I think the phone is working very to get and keep the GPS signal, which is causing so many other issues.

OV GPS made the phone warm and I even had a silicone case on it and never exp these kind of issues with it.

Course of action, going to get a replacement unit and hope for the best.
Just hoping I am not going to fix GPS issue and get 10 new different issues from the replacement.

Had very few issues at first, but going to have to swap it out tomorrow for another one since the rear camera autofocus stopped working and all the pictures now come out blurry. Other minor issues that I wasn't going to return the phone over include: two small, pinhole-sized gaps that allow light leakage, GPS works well but heats up phone, and power button now seems more recessed than when I got it and is difficult to push.

Just exchanged for my 3rd Triumph (Huwaei) phone. Same bluetooth issues I was having. This one wont even find the gps signal at all. Going back and getting the Optimus V. If your thinking about this phone DONT buy it. It's garbage.

Posted here in GPS thread about a fix of a sort for locking on location - better than nothing. STILL cannot figure out why the battery is so God awful overnight with everything turned off but the ability to receive calls - Google Maps lists battery consumption on a full charge down as 96% of consumption. If I have not improved control over battery life within a couple of weeks I will consider returning/exchanging :(

I picked one up, have issues with gps and signal strength is a lot worse than the V. I am going to try gps fix and see if that helps. If that doesn't help and the signal stays so poor I am going to swap back to my Optimus V. My screen is perfect and the camera works fine though.

I'm on my third Triumph, but that's not to say they were all broken. I was performing a retail experiment based on all the posts I've read here and on Howard forums. It seems to me that there is a difference in quality depending on when the shipment was made to the stores.

I bought the first one from Best Buy on July 24. It was the last one on the shelf of the initial shipment they received at our local BB. I went home and it worked fine, but I was noticing a slight flicker that many have reported on the first night. It was not fading to white as some reported, but a friend of mine who also bought one from the initial BB shipment had the fading to white issue.

I then purchased one from Radio Shack to see if there was a differnece. It turned out fine, quickly picking up GPS and no flickering. I tested it for a few hours and refunded it because I still had the original from BB, which I got a better deal on. I went back to BB and made an exchange, luckily they had recieved a new shipment of Triumphs last night and they quickly got me activated again. This model is working perfectly for the last few hours, and displays no flicker, light leak, or GPS issues.

In the end, I have noticed with all 3 of these that the GPS is not as fast to lock as my old Verizon Droid. I also noticed that the cell signal is generally weak in all cases compared to older Virgin mobile phones i have used at my location. I think it probably comes down to poor antenna design and underpowered transceivers for all signal types. No camera, battery, or LCD issues with any, except the lock-screen flicker in the first one.

Otherwise I'm satisfied with this device considering its non-contractual.

Well I'll be darned, mine does exactly the same thing, as soon as GPS actually gets a fix, which does take a couple minutes, it drops the data to 1x. That really sucks.

This phone really seemed like ... just what I was looking for, but each day I own it, I find more and more things that just don't work like they should. Dang.

Per a google thread that discusses some people having issues with Maps battery consumption (or false reporting, depending on who you believe) - uninstalled updates, reinstalled after hard reset and....a whole day without a charge and still 60% left. WOOHEE.

Had my Triumph for 1.5 weeks now, here are the issues I have with mine: - Some light bleed in the lower right corner under the search button - Earpiece buzzes sightly/rattles if the volume is greater than 50% - GPS works, but takes at least 1 minute to acquire signal. Also, it has never worked for me inside the house, only outside This is my second Triumph, and I exchanged the first one due to the earpiece buzzing. This one is better than the first, but there's still some buzzing. Do all Triumphs do this, or should I consider exchanging it yet again?

Not really a problem but just an annoying observation I made...can anyone else see the lattice cross-hatch design for touch detection under their screen? I catch glimpses of it depending on the overhead lighting in the room I'm in. Fluorescent I can definitely see it but incandescent not too easily. Again, not a deal breaker for me, just something I haven't seen before on my touch screen devices.

I also wanted to ask if your website graphics (resolution) appear blurry/not sharp - like jpgs/gifs/bmps found on yahoo or other websites...not all images are blurry but definitely enough to notice....also notice banner ads are blurry too...maybe this is normal and I just need to get used to not all graphics being sharp like on my computer?

FWIW: I too have seen the pattern on the touchscreen but only once under high power lighting, and only at one particular angle.

As for blurry graphics; nope. Now if I continue to zoom on a graphic image, well then yes. Beyond a certain point there is pixelation. But no blurryness.

I'm probably exchanging mine due to 12 stuck pixels in the top right corner of the screen. 11 are red, and one is blue. Damn stuck pixels. I've had no other issues

I have noticed the lattice work also, normal, I first noticed it on my Incredible under high noon, kinda cool.

Graphics are sharp here.

I am returning mine. The main reason is the lower powered radio which makes it constantly drop to 1x instead of 3G and the poor GPS locking with data. It seems like if the GPS is enabled it makes it even more difficult for it receive a cell signal. If I open up navigation and give it a destination it took over 10 minutes to finally plot the route, if I do the same thing on my V it takes like 10 seconds. It even has problems when you open speed test because it tries to find the closest server with gps. As soon as the GPS tries to find the location the cell signal drops and often I could not even get it to run a speed test. Mine also had slight light bleed in the lower right corner by the touch buttons and the screen definetly has a blue tint, both of those are not that big of a deal to me though. I might pick one up again if some of the issues are fixed but right now it seems my Optimus V works better for me at my location. I might have to wait until the Optimus Black comes out for some large screen fun.

I've had mine for almost 2 weeks and had multiple problems, primarily with VM, then internet wouldn't work, not sure if phone related cause it works now since last night.

I mentioned that because this morning when I turned it on, it showed a screen similar to when you turn on a computer and you see in the screen all the files loading, the first line said something about updating then it kept repeating the same line over and over for almost 1 hour "polling, get, easb1_node=1" or something like that, I made a crappy pic with my ipad but can't really read.

Anyway, I called VM and they told me to turn it off, remove batt and restart. It didn't respond to power button so I just removed battery and restarted. It's been working fine all day but I'm still concerned about that issue.

Has anyone experienced that or know what it is? I'd hate to spend more time on issues with this phone.

Thats the download mode. You must have accidentally held down the Vol down button when you hit the power button to turn it on. That screen is normal if you hold down Vol down + Power when turning it on. so if you don't do that again, you shouldn't have that problem again.

I just wanted to interject here, after using the device for nearly a week now, some of the issues are starting to fade, or perhaps I'm just getting used to them. At this point, especially after removing the factory screen protector, things are really starting to shine. This does seem to be quite a decent device, despite some of the issues that folks are reporting.

Totally agree. This is the best phone I've ever had and I am very happy. I think we are all just a bit paranoid since the phone just came out and any little thing looks like a big issue.

I really do like this phone but i am now on my third one and i continue to see the green and purple pixelation and coloring in all the videos i stream online. It does it on youtube and the vevo music video app. I cant be the only one this is happening to especially considering this is the THIRD triumph i have owned. I might just be that unlucky though. The first two were from best buy and this one is a radio shack one. I stream video over 3g and wifi with similar results. I do love everything else about it. Just wish it would stream video like my optimus v does.

I hate to comment twice in a role but i just tried the camcorder on this thing and it recorded and played back with some bluish looking crap at the top of the screen and major pixelation. I am really starting to think i should go back to my trusty optimus v. For three hundred bucks, this thing should not be performing like this.

Had my cell network connectivity go dead. Status bar showed red slash circle on the signal bars. Not a location issues, I travled about mobile and nothing changed. A battery out reboot fixed the problem.
