Sunken in power on/off button

Got the phone, and I really like it. But come on HTC, the top button to wake the phone up, and put it to sleep, is so sunken in that its almost impossible to use with the silicon case. Anyone else having this issue?

It's sunken in but not that bad. I like how it doesn't stick out, though I haven't tried it with a silicon case yet.

My first unit did not have this problem but i returned it due to a dead pixel. My replacement does have a recessed power button.

I had this problem but an exacto knife cured it (or something else thin). Just stick it in there and lift up a little. Should make it come up a little.

Hey, someone with an Evo who's power button, according to them, that's not sunken in at all, could you take a picture of it? I'm curious to see what yours looks like compared to mine... because mine feels normal when compared to the Droid. It barely sticks up, kind of clicks, but its not super defined (neither do my volume buttons really 'click'). It's still almost flush as are my volume buttons.

Mine is pretty flush...and u have to hit it just right to wake it up..However my volume keys are perfect. They stick out , and there clicky....Best buy Is getting more in on Friday, I'm just nervous about getting one with worse problems. HTC gets the Gas Face for poor build quality control....

Wellthe first one I bought was say one and my replacement came in Tuesday maybe the second batch was different. I know for a fact the first one stuck out more. I will clarify that it does stick out slightly just not as much as the other one.

The button is tight within its casing. I put WD40 on a QTip and rubbed it all around the button now mine works fine. Im gussing with use its going to loosen up some anyways. The button should stick up just a tiny bit thats its normal resting position. I went to a Sprint store and the two they had on display were exactly like mine.

Guys ...please do yourselves a favor and download "No Lock" from the Market !

Then all you have to do is use your volume controls to wake-up the phone and it bypasses the lock screen and take ya straight to ya home screen !

Oh, and its a free app ...got to love Android

i use the htc black silicon case and the button on the evo i use is not fully flush.. its raised just a touch so you can feel it (normal). also the rubber piece on the case for the power button does a great job of activating it. so no issues here...

I know that there have a been threads that have talked about the power button sinking but I wanted to get an update to see what the general situation with the power button is...has anyone had their button sink to the point that it is flush with the phone?

Hmm mine is not flush (maybe a millimeter or two above) but I have zero problem turning it on and off. i am rocking a Platinum Series case from Best Buy. Can anyone take pictures of their recessed buttons?

will verizon replace it if the button is recessed? it's kind of a pain to power on and off and wake up with it like this.

Yes, HTC should have designed their phone with a 3rd party aftermarket skin in mind.

Please.

Really? What reason would HTC even possibly entertain for giving even a nanosecond of consideration on 3rd party skins? Are you serious?
