Help super slow data speed htc evo, help!

Hi all , got a htc evo fully flashed by a dealer, and it gets very slow internet speed.I am on the 55.00 plan.Dealer said it was as fast as that phone goes.To get a cricket android if I wanted something faster.Which I do have.It is a huaewi, which i deactivated and activated the evo, thinking it was a better phone.Here is the thing, the huaewi which was deactivated, still works , on the 3g data, cant call, but internet works better and faster on my deactivated phone than on the evo , which is now my active phone.Is there a way to get faster internet on the evo?Is there a rom maybe that works better than what the dealer used?Also can i go down to the 40.00 plan with the current flash since im getting zero benefit from 3 g on this phone.Thanks

well roms will not play on your radios, so that will not work. you might need to update your radios, but i have no idea how that will play with your phone being flashed to cricket.
