Root Supernova

So another quiet, snowy ( :( ) Saturday afternoon finds me browsing ROMs again lol.
I find it interesting that I have not seen a single comment here on the Supernova rom ([ROM] SUPERNOVA Xtreme Official GB SENSE 04/Nov| UNLIMITED INTERNAL MEMORY | STABLE - xda-developers)
Has no one tried it? From reading the first few posts on it, it would seem like the ultimate rom, but that in itself sorta worries me lol.
Flash it right over any rom, no wipe, saves all data/settings, auto converts any ext to the right one...etc etc... Almost seems too good to be true...?
Anyone have any experience with this rom?

hi CC,

i know the feeling :D my phone is sorted now - great rom more space etc - but now itching to do something else :D

no wipes? :/ that doesnt sound like a good idea to me ?

go on...give it a try - you know you want to ;)

when I get itchy feet I try a new kernel ;) just trying out manu 2.0, and liking it.Battery life doesn't seem any worse than 1.4, bit so far seems a bit more stable.
It would take something REALLY special to get me away from dGB!

I am interested in the whole kernel business, but not exactly sure where to start or where to find proper information, such as which kernels go with what, or once I have a new/different kernel, what to do with it, etc...

ive only done it once when using redux - which kernel to use is normally on the xda thread for your rom - often a good one to use is manu 1.4 - but im not sure if that works with cm7 - i actually found battery worse with manu and redux :/ but that might jsut be me over using the phone :D

if i recall correctly you just download the kernel file and flash it after the main rom in recovery menu as normal

If I'm not mistaken don't certain kernels handle the camera in a different way and there for you may notice issues. Ie manu and redux / oxygen would not be a good combo but thalamus with redux / oxygen would be fine.

more stable? what was unstable with 1.4?

CM7, Redux 1.2, dGB - Manu
Redux 2, Oxygen - _thalamus

This is because Redux 1.2, CM7 and dGB use the 720p Camera driver as does the ManU kernel and the rest do not.

Nothing. 1.4 is still the best, Waiting for latest test kernel where wifi strength can be changed for screen off, so I can set it to do what 1.4 does automatically.

if it wasn't for it being a Sense ROM I might check it out...the Data2SD part intrigues me.

I wonder if there is any other ROM's with Data2SD on that are more vanilla droid..

Back to Supernova... It says: Partition Required: FAT32 Primary followed by One ext4 partition (ext2/3 if present will be auto converted to ext4)
I currently have ext3 & Supernova will convert it to ext4. If I don't stay with supernova, do I have to re-partition to get back to ext3?

Oh, good to know.
Guess that would be an easy way of getting ext4, at least, lol
Do you have any experience or insight to Supernova? The thread write up makes it sound like the cats meow, yet I haven't heard anyone say they have tried it. Seems odd...

I was one of the first to use siberes data2sd script when he first created it. I used it for several months but not on a sense Rom. I don't like sense roms so much...

It was alright but that was an old version which i believe has been improved upon many times

Hi CC,

Yes I am using Supernova :).
I think I had mentioned that in another thread when ICoin did not install...
I started with older version, Gingerburst, but 2 days back flashed the latest 2.4
It is good in a way, very easy to instal and directly on Stock boot also ok for S-On. I am experiencing occasional freeze...:confused::eek:..
Wondering if it is related to Radio, coz, it happened when someone called or when I was checking net...
Otherwise it is very smooth and no lag in normal functioning... (above still worries me though)
If some one wants just that extra space without much hassle, i think it is good to try it out...

Yay! Finally someone that has/is using it!
I might try it - haven't quite decided yet. I am not too keen on messing with radios and such though. Keep us posted on how you manage with it. :-) I'd be interested to hear how it is after the settle in period - battery life, stability, speed, etc.
