Root Supersonic HBOOT 2.10

Danielleh

Newbie
I have looked at the software on my phone and it says (baseband version) 2.15.00.11.19
but when i try to run revolutionary it says my device PC36100 supersonic 2.10.0001 is not supported at this time.

i am guessing that while my phone is rooted i had *tried* to unroot but thought i didn't. maybe it did some? how the heck do i fix it? i have tried what i can but i am so lost. i have no internet on my laptop and was TRYING to use wireless tether but it wouldn't allow superuser to run correctly. originally when i tried to unroot i wanted to do so bc the market would NOT update ANYTHING.

anyways i can't tell you exactly whats happened....just help me get it right please. i am up to my eyeballs in a billion other things going on and just want some free wifi for my laptop!

i have NOT ever gotten the OTA update from sprint for GB. my android version IS 2.3.3
(kernal 2.6.35.10)

when i go to hboot i DO have s-off

the error message i get when i try to tether is
" the application superuser (process com.noshufou.android.su) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again.

WHAT DO I DO??????

ETA: after i had wiped my phone through HBOOT and "restored" the setting with s-off still off i can update in the market, so i just looked to update superuser and it finally updated NOW the wireless tether works....still doesn't answer my question on why revolutionary doesn't think my phone is supported....

ok so you have s-off correct. if you have s-off then there is no need to run revolutionary. if you are hving superuser issues:
1.check you superuser app. sometimes the app denies other apps access to the system partitions. all you have to do is select the app that has been denied and allow it access.
2.if that does not work then try and wipe dalvik cache and cache.
3.if you are still having issues then try and upgrade the superuser app in the market.

and one thing, try and not do something that you do not completely understand. that is a sure way of bricking your phone. you can come here and ask away before attempting something.

so just an fyi revolutionary is only a tool that unlocks your bootloader (hboot) and turns s-on to s-off. that is all it is doing really, but in the process it changes the hboot to either 6.16 or 6.17. so if you already have s-off then there is no need to rerun it.

don't mistake my "not knowing what happened" to be that i don't have a modicum of understanding.....i just don't REMEMBER what i did TO it at that time. :) it was a *possible* scenario based on something i tried (following instructions!) some time ago. i thought it was relevant but forgot to mention it wasn't recent. i also mentioned it since the MARKET was being affected as well as wireless tether.

i will have to remember (see this is my problem) how to wipe delvick cache as i suspect that did fix my problem and i didn't test wireless tether or try updating super user before wiping (as i was intending to wipe when i found it and remembered it was said somewhere to wipe it and i can never find it).

i did check superuser before i updated (and subsequently uninstalled all updates as well) and it said everything was fine. i would get notified that wireless tether was granted permission but then it would FC (wording in first post). i tried deleting it but it really never seemed to???

as i mentioned (and i am not quite sure when it got fixed in the different things i was doing to try and get wireless tether to work) market wasn't updating anything so i couldn't update superuser at all as well as any other apps. i thought that since market was being affected rooting might be a problem (permissions??).

I think your hboot was actually too old for revolutionary to recognize.

If your hboot is 2.10.xx or below you need to use unrevoked for root. Like Ocn said, it doesn't matter you have s-off, the hard part is done. :)
