Root "Superuser Permissions" app versus "Superuser" app?

If you have superuser listed as an app in your app drawer, then you do not need to worry about it. If it is the ninja and not the cross bones then just go to the market and search for superuser and install it.

I tried that and the download went OK and but install said unsuccessful installations, and said I had to do a manual update. The thing it it left the cross bones in my downloads from the market so I restored my phone and reinstalled all my apps over the weekend. It finally removed the cross bones from my downloads. And know when I go to the market and find the superuser app it says update(manual) next to it.

And you have verified that you have a superuser app in your list of apps...

Interesting. Let me look into this a little...

No I don't have the superuser app which is different that the superuser permissions. The Superuser app is listed in the Android Market and is made by ChainDD. It is the cross bone looking droid guy. Search the market for superuser.

I don't want to have to go through the "restoring" my phone deal again and reinstalling my apps. When I look for the "superuser" in the market, is says "Update, manual". When I click on it, at the bottom where you traditionally have the install/unistall option, the only option that I have is update. When I click on update it reads Replace Application with a triangle and a exclamation point in it. Below that is reads "The application Superuser 2.3.6.1 - Added clear log to menu in log ta, More Languages, Bugfixes will replace the currently installed Superuser Permissions. Existing user data will be saved. My options are "OK" and "Cancel". When I hit "OK" it takes me to a screen that says the application has access to the following, "Storage" and "network communication".

I am afraid to hit "OK" because I don't want to download the app and have the install fail again, and then have to restore my phone.

Sorry for the long write up just want to give you as much info as possible.

Thanks,

TB

not so true.. this is the issue I had, read above, and why I had to force the app with the file from OMJ as trying to just download it gives that install error troutbeck27 and I mention

why didnt you just do what OMJ offered in #6?

dude.. not to be rude, but did you read this thread?

I started it, I did do it, and I reported it worked - not sure where the disconnect is here? #6 and #22 outline what to do and the rest just covers the topic as extra

Yes I read this thread, and like I said I just rooted my droid 2 like two weeks ago at the most, so there are things that I am still learning about the benefits of rooting. I don't want to mess up my phone to the point that it doesn't work so I am trying to educate myself on things, and that is what I thought forums where for, to ask questions from people that have more experience, sorry I pissed in your cereal.

you didn't piss in my cereal so slow your roll.. your just asking questions - on this topic - that have been answered here in the thread plus it seems like your going through unneeded steps and time and different tangents to address this, when I guess I though it was pretty clear in the above posts what you can do to rectify this issue and it could be done in 1-3 minutes. no wiping, no restoring, no reinstalling, none of that jazz needed.

anyway.. you should be able to hit "ok" just fine. and IF it fails like it did before, go back above and read the thread as I had the same issue and how to resolve it. Also, IF it fails, wiping and restoring and reinstalling is way over kill and throwing the baby out with the bath water over 1 pesky app install. again, IF it fails, go above, the file you need to load and steps to follow are above.

Ok. I see what you are saying. Both apps are doing the same thing, but the newer version just has added features and bug fixes. So, out of curiosity, are you able to update from the market now (I may have missed it in the posts above, but in my defense, I have worked 48 hours in the last three days and I have now had 13 beers already)?

I went through the download from the market and now the app is in my downloads but it now just says free next to it, not installed and the install was unsuccessful once again

the reason it wont update is cause you are on an old version from before the market updates started.

Flash this in recovery it will give you the newer one that can be updated

I was trying to get this for my HTC Evo, which I rooted 2 weeks ago. I used unrEVOked and got the crappy old ninja SU app and cannot update it. Titanium Backup and Busybox installer both have issues. Does anyone have a current SU app that I could grab from somewhere? Any help is appreciated.
