Root [Support] Hboot 1.5 for jb roms?

I'm trying to find which Hboot I need to flash a jellybean rom. I have 1.57 but I can't seem to find a Hboot 1.5 or older that will flash to my phone. They all try to flash and fail. I'm not sure if I'm getting the wrong file or what.

your best off with the eng hboot from the turn your phone into evo 3d thread... all of the jellybean roms (latest ive heard) work with eng

edit: i just wanna make sure your doing things right... you dont flash hboot through recovery... you do it in bootloader...

I've followed the thread. My phone has had everything done to be an evo 3d. I'm attempting to flash in hot boot but it errors

I am on engineering boot myself and I know for a fact some roms will not boot on it. they are all sense 4 roms. But every jb Rom without sense works fine. Any reason for this?

You answered your own question, Sense 4 requires the new hboot.

Durkta durrrrr. Lol

We can always just flash the hboots any time once we are s-off in the boot loader screen right? Never needed different hboots for roms.

That's right. If you are s-off you can change it whenever you want. Only takes a minute. :)

Awesome :D I didn't knew that I thought you gonna be in that hboot forever and sorry I'm a noob and how do you do that

As long as you are s-off you can change your hboot through your bootloader with a PG86IMG.zip file. I keep forgetting this is evo v. I need to make sure you can use the 1.5 sprint hboot. I will post it up for you after I verify.

If you want to be a guinea pig and try this out, I put together an hboot 1.5 for Evo V. Just keep in mind it's my first time for evo v and I can't test it out first. Aren't other people running jb on an Evo V hboot? Are you sure you need 1.5? It's up to you (or anyone else I guess) if someone wants to test it out. It should work though.

I'll tested out bro and right now I'm hboot 1.5 cause I was scared if I go to 1.04 hboot I'm not gonna able go back but right now you brought out the file and thank you bro :)

It works for me :D the only thing is that when you go into recovery mode it tells you to format your partition

Thanks for trying it! So you did it through recovery? I should have posted instructions with it I guess but usually here is how you would use a PG86IMG file:

Place PG86IMG.zip on the root of your sd card (not in any folders)

Rename the file to just PG86IMG

reboot into bootloader. If you've not noticed before, every time you boot into your bootloader it does a small check for the presence of a PG86IMG file.

Since it will find one this time, it will ask if you want to update. Say yes by pushing volume up.

When finished it will tell you to press power to reboot.

As soon as the phone boots up, go to your sd card and rename that file because its presence will prevent you from booting into recovery in an emergency.

Just a note because sometimes you might get stuck and so you won't panic!
If you do this method and find that the hboot was incompatible with a rom and you get stuck in a bootloop, you will not be able to get into recovery. So you will have to remove the sd card and remove the PG86IMG file with a computer and then you can get into recovery.

Okay. I made a new 1.5 hboot file based off the VM Ruu. The last one I made was based off the Sprint RUU. It obviously worked for pancho, but maybe it won't work for everyone. It possibly will depend on what you've done to your phone. Anyway the download link is below. Also I included 1.57 in case anyone wants the stock hboot back without having to run the ruu. Enjoy! :)

VM_Hboot_1.5_PG86IMG.zip

VM_Hboot_1.57_PG86IMG.zip

--------------------------------------

Also, if anyone needs or wants it here is the entire stock base that you can update through hboot. These are just on my dropbox and I will leave them up for awhile in case anyone wants them.

Also Pancho, when/if you have time, will you use fastboot to run this command:

fastboot getvar cid

And then post here what results you get. I am curious to find out if your phone has the sprint cid or the virgin mobile cid since the file you used was for sprint.

Want to know if the evo v allows either cid number or if your phone has the sprint cid number :)

Yes I was able to go to recovery now and thank you again I know you place the file in the sd card and told me to update soo I did and then it told me to boot I did I got scared for a moment cause it took to long too boot lol but it got the job done I hope for any body try this won't give them a boot loop or brick but it works for me soo it should work for every one and I did the command like you want me to do and I got the sprint cid number and ALSO note to anybody that's upgrading to a hboot and when you go into recovery mode its gonna say you in safe mode its gonna tell you to format all the partitions to get to you're New hboot soo that's mean you have to reflash you're Rom again and to get you're hboot that you just put

It should not have to format your partitions just to change the hboot. But normally you wouldn't be using a new hboot unless you are going to be flashing a rom that requires a specific hboot. In which case you should format anyway before flashing the new rom.

So what results did the fastboot command return?
Did it say SPCS_001 or was it SPCS_002 ?

It told me that I got to format my partitions when I got into recovery mode and SPCS_2

Okay. That might be what the problem was. You shouldn't need to flash this through recovery. You should only have to boot into bootloader with volume down+power and then it will ask you to update.

Also, the SPCS_002 is actually the VM cid so it looks like the sprint cid worked anyway. I don't know if it asked to format because of the different cid or because you did it through recovery? Next time you change hboot just do it through your bootloader and not recovery and see if it works better for you. Thanks for helping me test this out! :)

Oh Brian706 You should make a post about going back to you're stock hboot soo it can be easier to found about post like this
