swapping between ROMs

I have root, I also have CWM installed.

so...I am going to try a couple of ROMs

The first thing I did was to back up using CWM, this took ~5 minutes.

What is the preferred method of swapping between ROMs? Using CWM backup (backup the current ROM) and restore (to a different ROM)?

That works for me. Once you've backed up with nandroid you can restore any previous ROM to switch back and forth to your hearts content. Remember though that each backup is self-contained, so you'll have to update the apps in each individually. Keeping multiple ROMs up-to-date can become a major job.

Nandroid rather than CWM backup?

edit: My bad, I used to use nandroid on the G1. I didn't realise CWM used it.
