Root Swapping Prls on triumph

I have a triumph that is rooted and flashed with CM7. I am looking to possibly update my prl because my signal is crappy at the house. I have a few questions. This is what I found on swapping prls.

HERE IS A QUICK STEP BY STEP IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GO THROUGH ALL THE STUFF ON THE OTHER FORUM:

REQUIRED TOOLS/SOFTWARE:

Motorola Triumph USB cable- Others may work but this cable was designed for use with the phone, use it if possible.
Stock Phone Driver- Found on the phone when connected via USB. This driver should be installed before attempting any modifications.
QPST 2.7 Build 366- This is what I use, other versions may work as well.
Sprint PRL 01115- This is the latest version of the Sprint PRL and includes the most recently added towers. Using another carriers PRL might eventually allow the Triumph to be used on another carrier if you can get the ESN added to that carriers database, but that's another issue that I'll leave for someone else to test down the road. Just use the Sprint PRL.
MotoConnect- Not technically required but makes the detection process easier due to notification windows.
NOTE: Phone does not need to be rooted to complete this guide.

HOW TO SWAP YOUR PRL:

First things first, make sure you have the required software and drivers installed and that they appear to be working correctly.

Now its time to get your MSL. Thanks goes to mmarz over at XDA for originally discovering this method.

1. Log into your Virgin Mobile account.
2. Click this link.
3. Although you get a 404 error page, search the page for "msl:"
4. The six numbers after msl: are your MSL code. Write them down.

Now that you have your MSL I suggest you put it into a notepad document and save it.

The next step is to identify what COM ports your particular computer uses to connect with the Triumph. Open your device manager on your computer and expand the

To find out your current PRL use:
Menu>about Phone>Status
It should be about the fifth item in the list

google search motorola triumph upgrades there is a thread on virgin mobile guy explaining how to get your msl you must be on stock

That link to get your MSL hasn't worked for sometime.

Here you go:

Must flash back to stock to get your MSL!
Download and install aLogcat (free) from the Android Market.
Run aLogcat and set it to filter for "sec_code "
Go to your Phone apk and dial ##33284#
When prompted for the MSL, type 000000.
Now, go to aLogcat. It should have found a "sec_code :" line with your
MSL code at the end of it. It's 6 digits.

Hi, I have the triumph that is currently stock. I am trying to switch prls. I found my msl # and downloaded anycut, but the thread says to read from qpst. What is qpst. Do I have to download it on my pc, and if so, where can I get it. Thanks for the help.

QPST is qualcomm product support tool. Yes you have to download it to your pc. Here's an xda thread that has a link to it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=937652

By the way, do you know where I can get more prls to try, I have the 01120 one.
Is there one web site that I can get the different ones.
Thanks

Also, Ive downloaded the qpst build, now its asking me what program do I use to open it?? Have any ideas??

Ive downloaded this file QPST_2_7_Build355.rar , and tried to open it but it tries with adobe reader and says it cant. Help!!!

A .rar file (which is what you have) is a compressed folder with the program inside. Like marc suggested above, you need to download either winrar or 7zip (both free from download.com) and when that's done you will be able to extract the program from it and then open it.

Does that help you understand?

Do you have winrar or 7zip installed? If so then right click open with> choose program from list and select winrar or 7zip if you don't have one of them installed then install them and try.

Ive tried downlading winzip, I go to download.com, click on install winzip, says unable to download????

7-Zip

There. just download the 32-bit or 64-bit depending on what OS you have (32 bit or 64 bit) if you don't know just download the 32-bit version it will still work if you have a 64-bit os.

Ok, Ive gotten it to unzip with 7 zip, but when I open it, it gives me a bunch of files, which one do I click on to actually open the program??

It gives me display capture, instruction manual, dm proxy window, efs explorer, memory debug app, and a bunch of other ones??

make a folder on your desktop (or somewhere else you want) and copy all the files into it. There should be a setup one if not start the qpst configuration if its in there.

I followed the instructions and swapped my prl, but how do I check and make sure it switched? Also, how do I swap back. Do I do it in qpst? If so, when I go into qpst, I see no option without creating another port. Is there step by step in switching back the prl, obviously the instructions for first swapping the prl are different from reswapping. Thanks for the help.

you check in settings> about phone>status> prl version. You have to flash the original prl back to return (there's one floating around here somewhere). So the instructions are exactly the same, just you are using the stock prl instead of a different one.
