swiftkey vs. swype?

what are your feelings? i haven't used swiftkey yet, i'm debating it. i like being lazy about typing and not have to pick up during my words. what are the pros and cons of each to you?
 
There is a thread on this I'm sure.
I liked Swype better, but then I moved away and got a decent normal keyboard.

Swype looks better, generally better at predictions for me.
Also, I like the idea for a word like "Book" you start on B slide to O then make a circle on the O then to K.

Slide it you just miss one O out which sounds better but didn't work for me.

Though, Swype is a private beta too, or was last time I looked.
 
i have used both and prefer swiftkey , the more you use it the faster it gets as it learns how you type I managed to send a email without typing any letters just clicking on the predictions .
 
Once again, like many things its all personal preference.

Sign up for the Swype Beta? There's a trial or slide it too I think.

i have installed swiftkey and liked it untill somewhere i was trying badly to write something when the letters i was writting went crazy and uninstalled it
 
I am thinking of getting swiftkey for my Arc. Looking at some of the comments on the market feedback seems to be very positive for this app.

Any reason why it is so expensive to buy????
 
Swype is still in beta is it not? I'm sure they will charge a similar price once they've got everyone hooked on their keyboard.

I like Swiftkey a lot. Very 'intelligent' and it suits my typing style far better than SlideIt or Swype.
 
Bout a month or so now.
Only had a few updates, usually small bug fixes even though iv never encountered any myself.

Also, in one of my other posts I noticed I compared slide it to Swype... Whoops!
 
so it's only the english dictionary that swype has right ? so it preddicts the words from it

what about some other languages ? or should i create my own with saving the words one by one
 
Mine has English and Chinese.
I know Spanish is available.
Probably other languages too but I don't know em
 
I absolutely love swiftey, it's amazing, I can text almost as fast as I can type on a full size keyboard. The major update a few months back was a big improvement too. It's well worth the money. I tried swype, but couldn't get on with it, I think you have to try them out to see what suits really.
 
Some dissatisfied users of swiftkey point out that the keyboard is a little too small, and the space bar could be a little bigger too. Does this seem to be the case for some of you???

I do wish the spacebar would be a little bigger, yeah. I sometimes press it, it therefore inserting the next prediction mid sentence or at the end of one.
for example today this happend.

"Aye ok i'll let you know when im coming over xx settings"

Yeah, I that's true on both counts for me. The space bar is a bit too narrow even in landscape mode and sometimes I accidentally hit the predicting bar at the top when I'm speed typing.

I still like it though.
 
I found this thread yesterday and pretty much instantly downloaded the trial version of Swiftkey X (i'm on the Desire S, and am having the same issues with the message deletion screen appearing randomly when i hit backspace). The install was fine, and the interface is fine, but when i've finished typing and hit "done", nothing happens. I have to use the "back" key to save the message as a draft, then re-enter the message to send it through the android default "send" option. Is there something i've forgotten to disable?

Otherwise, i like the interface, and the predictive text seems smarter than that of the android OS, especially after it updated through my SMS history. Nice touch. Finding the automatic space after word completion annoying though, as i keep ending up with spaces before my full stops...
 
+1 for Swiftkey. It's amazing, it seems as though it's in my head a lot of the time, predicting the next word before I've even pressed a single letter. It's so good that it's the only app I've ever actually paid for. True story.
 
Just by way of an update, i've now uninstalled this app. Whilst the predictive side of things was good, i found the text input method somewhat frustrating. On the careful setting, which relied more on predictions, it kept inserting spaces before punctuation. I thought i'd try the rapid mode instead, assuming it'd correct spelling mistakes, etc. It corrected things like "yeah" to "YeH", and couldn't spot the need to correct things like "wasnt" to "wasn't". Also, there was a list of words/phrases above the keyboard, which i could scroll through, but which didn't change/update. I don't know if i've missed a trick here, but aside from the improvement in text prediction, i see no reason to pay for this app. I think i'll try swype...
 
I punch my letters in one at a time. Tried them both but I just preferred the old fashioned way..

I could see myself getting quite comfortable with Swype, but I'm too stubborn.
 
Unfortunately, when i tried to install Swype, it told me that my phone screen size wasn't supported. No amount of searching has produced any form of workaround, so it looks like i'm stuck with the android OS. Which isn't too bad.
