Root Switching Between Custom ROMs (Questions)

At the moment, all I have done on my phone is installed the custom 1.7 Ghz Plague Kernel. I have installed Rom Manager as well.

1. I made a backup of my current ROM with ROM Manager. Does that mean that if I chose to restore from a different ROM that I will have all of my settings, apps, etc.?

2. Also, I want to try out both GingerSteem Extreme and LD-ICS. Let's say I choose to try out GingerSteem Extreme first, the installation instructions tell me to wipe all of my data/ do a factory reset on my phone first. How can I save all of my apps, settings, and such and restore them on GingerSteem after I have the ROM installed?

I am very new so please tell me all of your suggestions.

If you make a backup, it will restore your phone to exactly how it was at the time the backup was made.

To save apps and app data (game saves, app settings, etc.) You should get titanium backup. This allows you to backup your apps if you move from 1 from to another

Go SMS pro also allows you to backup your SMS texts to copy to other roms as well

Well I did a factory reset and it rebooted my phone. Now I'm in the ClockworkMod Recovery and I can't install the ROM because the factory reset wiped all of my internal memory. Now what? Can I connect my phone to the PC as Mass Storage to put in the ROMs in the internal SD and try to install from there?

Last I checked mass storage in cwr didn't work (last I checked was during dev of cwr) You need to find some way to connect your external SD card to a comp and download the rom you want

Alright, so I installed via an external SD. However, none of my apps or anything got deleted. Is that how Titanium Backup works? I didn't have to restore anything. It's as if nothing got deleted and the ROM just got installed. I didn't have any backups or anything on the external SD. I am now running GingerSteem Extreme.

Once you install cwr you can only do a factory reset through cwr
As for your build number, I believe pg did make it say esteemed

ROM Manager says I have CWR 5.0.2.8 installed but I'm pretty sure I can still do a factory reset from my phone's privacy settings. Unless it's not actually wiping my settings and just pretending to.

Are there any cons to not wiping your data off the phone before installing a ROM?

I just checked to see if I can OC to 2Ghz and indeed I can.

There's a chance anything leftover from the old rom may cause conflicts with the new rom.
Trying to wipe data in settings would boot up the stock recovery, which was replaced by cwr and now doesn't do anything by itself.
