I love Swype. I can type with just my thumb using it single-handed with pretty good results, couldn't do that with my old iPhone. But now when I occasionally do pick up my iPhone and go to type something, I always default to Swyping, and that doesn't work at all on there!
Which brings me to this question. Who will be the first to incorporate swype on a laptop?
I was thinking about that for those dual-screen tablets...1) Will never go back to a physical keyboard.
2) Will never, ever, ever, ever multitap again.
3) Will never use a virtual keyboard like a keyboard ever again.
Life is good.
Merry Christmas
Which brings me to this question. Who will be the first to incorporate swype on a laptop? That would be a ballsy step for sure. Probably wouldn't work as well now that I think about it. Forget I mentioned it...
I believe it learns what words you use most and puts that as the top suggestion, so when it updated, you may have lost the learning that it did previously. Just a guess.man i do love swype but i have to revisit this, b/c ever since they updated it a couple months back (and i'm talking preinstalled X version, not the beta) its been sucky. It never picks the right words anymore...i've gone to the gingerbread multitouch keyboard and i've noticed for now i'm faster at typing on it b/c i don't have to select every word i type as i'm going along. but it sucks b/c i can't one handed text quickly anymore....
also, i emailed swype a month ago to get some answers as to why after the update it just started sucking, and never got a reply back. i think i'm gonna try out swiftkey, i heard thats pretty awesome too!
I'm switching over to it, and I'm used to typing on a virtual keyboard a la LG Dare.
The one thing I'd like to see is the capability to turn it sideways and swype with both hands, using the left hand for the letters on the left side and the right for the right side.
Whenever I try to swype with both though, it cuts words off mid-word as the swype line gets fragmented going from thumb to thumb.
For example, if i want to type "loser" and start with l-o with the right thumb and drag and drag across s-e-r with the left thumb, it thinks they're two different words of "lo" and "ser".
I understand why this happens, but it would be cool if it could understand this method. Just weird for me to only use one hand when I've been using to since the inception of cell phones.
This would make it twice as fast as it already is.
