Swype is insane.

It's available now via the android market as well. Search for Swype. A word of warning... it doesn't appear to be an official app so use care.
 
I think we should be careful with this.
Swype havnt released this software so this is an unnoficial copy.
Have you read the comment with it on the market.
Also when you go to download it. It needs permissions for your personal data.

Call me sceptical but wouldnt this make an ideal trojan?

A peice of software everyone wants. but officialy cant get.
and it has access to your personal data.

:rolleyes: I give it maybe a day before Swype's lawyers find out and Google have to pull it from the Market.
 
Swype has asked a rom builder to remove it from their rom builds so yes they are aware their product is out in the wild. Should it bother you that swype has access to so much personal content? Sure, but google already has more info on you then swype could gather in a lifetime :p
 
Yes but a trojan virus could make use of it by passing it on to someone you arnt expecting to having it. Im sure your friends aad family would be unhappy to get a whole load of extra spam.
If its that easy to get some software on to the market that shouldnt be there.
Then theres no reason it couldnt be just as easy to get something malicious on to the market.

True Gordon. In the meantime some people recommend ShapeWriter which is similar and is an official app. I'll try that.

I think what Gordon means is someone could take the beta file, mod it to get your information and release it in the market.
 
I was using ShapeWriter and thought it was awesome.. Until I tried to type while walking. Now I'm back to default and it's so much easier/faster.
