Root Swype issue. Unusal.

So I just got the Esteem. Flashed over Gingersteem Etreme with no problems. I noticed today though when writing a text message that Swype is acting up. Before and after the update I installed today.

What it's doing.

Whenenver I long press a letter to go to the optional icon, questions mark or a colon, it wont come up. Does the same thing with long pressing back to delete a whole word. I have to touch it VERY slightly and it will work. WTF. Isn't that weird? If I press M as normal to get a ? it wont work. It just stays lit up, but when I release it I will get a M or MM. If I do it on "back" to delete a word it will say try again or something like that. And I also noticed if I touch "back" on the far right of the key to delete a word it will work.

Is anyone having this problem? Does what I said even make sense?

It's crazy, I've never had a problem with Swype before as it's always word flawless. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't use Swype(LG keyboard)...have you tried uninstalling the keyboard and reinstalling it?
Kind of sounds like a screen responsiveness issue..
Hang on a minute going to find you the Swype apk download:)

Download the LG keyboard first(so you have a keyboard to use;)http://dl.dropbox.com/u/53413549/HIME.apk

Then here is the Swype download link: [link removed]

Np..let me know if it fixes your issue..will be around later;)

Looks like its acting okay right now. We shall see if it holds up. Hopefully it will. So strange. Sometimes it's fine and then other times it isn't. I got a feeling we're good now though ;)

So I wanted to bump this mainly because I found out exactly what the problem was/is. It only acts up when the phone is on the CHARGER. WTF. Weird. I take it off the charger and the "hold" key option for numbers or whatever works fine and the hold backspace to delete works fine too. As soon as I plug it up to the charger it stops. Any clues?

Mine does it time to time also while not on the charger.. I just run fast reboot and it fixes it.. that's weird.. Does it constantly do it while on the charger?

Just a quick heads up, I removed the download link for Swype.

The Swype devs aren't overly keen on their apk being distributed via file sharing sites, forums etc. I know they went after XDA because some of their devs were doing it and I'd hate for the same to happen to us.

I realise you were only trying to help and it's appreciated, but to save you/us any potential bother, it's best to direct folk to the swype site and download the beta from there.

Feel free to drop me a PM if I'm off the mark, if I'm wrong I'll be happy to re-add the link. :)
