Help SWYPE on the EVO?

If you have the beta Swype and install the latest update from Sprint, clear data and uninstall Swype installer and Swype before doing the update

You should be able to long press any text box and it will give you the option of keyboard you wish to enable.

If you didn't get a notification for the update, try:

Menu > Settings > System Updates > HTC Software Update > click Check Now at the bottom..

The Beta is newer than the one in the sprint update. Saw it at XDA.

I guess the real question is will it allow you to have both installed?

If you take the update, I don't think you can still run the beta.

I took the update and until I deleted the beta and installer, and then rebooted, Swype wouldn't work. It kept giving me forced stops until I got rid of the beta.

Nope. It will give you nothing but forced stops when you try to use it.

Thanks, but how do i delete swype and the installer? I used Astro and i thought I deleted it but i see its still there.

I just ran a search in Astro for Swype and nothing came up. I hooked my Evo up to my pc and searched for it and nothing came up. Yet i'm still using it on my phone. All i have to do is check it off in the settings and it works. I want to delete it before i update though.

If you start at the sywpe key and slideover to the SYM key next to it a keyboard with directional arrows will pop up, also with text edit commands.

I got the update this morning and after installing started getting many Swype force close messages. Went into applications and deleted Swype and the installer. Then I had no Swype keyboard listed.

Rebooted the phone and Swype is now available. Version 2.7.49.12469. Has the voice input button which the last beta had.
