I downloaded that link above and it still doesn't want to work at all. I have a myTouch 3G and it installs but when I go to select input method and swype, it displays the swype keyboard but when I go to swype, nothing at all..just a *beep*

yeah i have tried 5 different swype keyboards and they all say that the trial period is up. uninstalled all of them. none work. eris ota 2.1.

That is strange. Anyone else not getting this to work? And if so, are you on a leak or OTA?

It looks like the host, anyhub.net, is down right now. Someone just posted a link to a mirror of sed's original version, and here's a mirror of the HTC themed version:

Links removed by OfTheDamned

I cannot seem to get the themed version to install. When I download the file from the link, I unzip it and there is no apk file in the folder directory. When I copy the folder to the root of my SD, and using Astro to install. I choose the file name Swype.HVGA.1.25.16.5612.HTC_IME.apk and choose Open app manager and there are no options to install. Only two tabs in which the first says Summary and second says Details. In the details tab an error message says could not open /sdcard/SwypeHVGA.1.25.16.5612.HTC_IME.apk as APK file.

I'd like this themed version...am I making any errors?

thanks so much sed, i have my trial expired like a week and i can't live with that, after swype you have to admit it is so painful to type, so happy finally have the swype back,

Try using your phone's browser, find this thread, then download it on your phone. After download, tap it with your finger, it should open and give you the option to install. It may say something about third party apps, it will redirect you to your manage apps setting and then just select allow third party apps (or what ever it says).

After you are installed, make sure you select Swype in your menu settings under "Language and Keyboard". Then in a text field long press where your cursor is until the pop up appears, select "input method" and then Swype. Give it about 30 secs to set and then you should have the Swype Keyboard. :)

I got swype downloaded, and can see and edit settings in the keyboard area but no swype keyboard pops up for any of my keyboards and don't know how to get to it.. ideas?

*edit* nm read above and did the "long press"

used sed's anyhub download and installed

After reading through this thread I was finally able to get swype up and running on my phone. I definitely have to say its pretty amazing. Great App!

YAY! OMG. I actually put up with NO SWYPE for 11 days before I used Sed's fix. It sucked for those 11 days. SUUUUCKED.

Yeah really...
and to think Swype doesn't want to sell it in the market...
Their loss. We would all gladly pay for it....

I was without Swype this morning for about half an hour while I was upgrading from leak V1 to leak V3. That was a very long half hour!

Late to the game but so glad I am!! Just used Sed's link. WOW! This may just be one of the happiest moments of android eris using life. The thing I hated about this phone was the keyboard. So glad I finally listened to you all and tried it. Thanks again.
