Help Sync Google Calendar with Wifi only

Newbie question:
I have an LG Ally with AND 2.1 but I have a very limited data plan. Is there a way to AUTOMATICALLY sync google calendar/contacts etc over wifi only while the data connection is turned off?

I know I can manually sync the calendar over wifi when the data network is disabled, but I'd like it to do it automatically when a wifi connection is available.

If you have your settings to automatically sync everything, and your 3g data is off, once you find and connect to a wifi network, it should automatically start syncing.

This is the beauty of Android. It can do pretty everything via wifi that it does over 3G / 4G, except for the cellular phone call / text part. It is an awesome platform, even if just on wifi.

Thanks, I'm new to Android and didn't know you could turn off data. Found APNDroid and that worked like a charm.
