Root system audio

have we found a way to record system audio yet? like recording streamed audio that has no source your phone can identify. I'm trying to think of a prime example. but I was reading up that you had to route system to the mic, but every device will be different.

record, line-out audio. what gets played through heaphones and the speaker. I've seen several apps do VM, call, and front/back mic. it seem the problems lie within androids diverse ecosystem. a post on stackoverflow showed that every phone used a different audio chipset and coddec. the only method I saw was using commands to route the line-out to line-in to trick computer software into thinking it was a mic. which wasn't successful according to the post.

maybe this would have done better posted elsewhere on the forum. all though I might need something phone specific to see if this is possible.

You could get a double male audio cable and plug the other end into your computer's microphone slot. I know that's not exactly what you're looking for but it can get you the mp3 you want. There are also sites like snipmp3.com that will let you download streams.

thanks, id already thought of that. this was more about doing it with an app. I'm all about full functionality. the more computer like I can get my phone, the better.

I completely understand. I'm the same way. You could run Linux on your phone if you want it to be not computer-like but to be an actual computer.
