Root System Update issues

I have a recently rooted Razr M. after it was rooted and while I was installing multiple apps on it, it wanted to update to the latest system ver 98.18.78. The update was downloaded but I chose "install later" when given the option. Now it asks to update every 12hrs.

I figured I'd just delete the downloaded file but can't find it. I tried ES File Explorer and Simple File Finder to search for all zip files but have not come up with the update file. I almost have to assume the file isn't on my phone (even tho I saw it said it was downloaded and ready to install) but I still get notifications (every 12 hrs) asking me to install the update. Since this happens at 5:48 each morn/aft, it's only a matter of time before I hit the wrong button and it tries to update. I'm a little nervous about that.

Any ideas on how to be 100% certain the file isn't on the phone and how to stop the updater from trying to do it's thing.

Also, I used App Quarantine to stop the updater from downloading any more updates but I didnt' know to do that til after this update was downloaded (or not).

Thanks,
John

Usually if you clean cache and dalvic it will remove the update If you have a custom recovery such as Twrp then it wont update anyways. I just wipe it out when it "automatically downloads" then ask if I want to update.

Swooosh! Well that went right over my head... I appreciate the answer and I'm going to assume you mean empty the cache folder on my sd card? As far as dalvic.... I looked that up but didn't get far enough to understand it. Is there an easy instruction to clean it?

Also, what happens if I just tell the updater to go ahead and install the update? If it isn't there I'd probably just get an error message and then maybe no longer get notices? If it is there, can I safely stop it once it starts?

Thanks.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but life takes priority always.

1. I had assumed you had and unlocked boot loader and a custom recovery. Forgive me for not being more specific. There are a few tools in the play store that can clear cache (not from sd card but the phones storage cache) which may help remove the update download.

2. Updating a rooted phone through an OTA update should not be done. It could unroot you closing the exploit that was used to root to begin with. I would not recommend doing so. There is no way to stop the update once it starts and you really wouldn't want to as it could leave you with a brick.

No apologies necessary, I appreciate you taking the time to help.
I do have a rooted phone and so far I've managed to not allow the ota update. I have Clean Master installed on my phone and that can easily clear cache of individual apps but I'm not sure what I'd need to clean to stop the update notice. I'm not even sure the update file was ever even downloaded and I haven't been able to find it. I'm just wanting to stop the notifications before I accidentally press OK when it asks me if I want to update.

Can you direct me to which files to delete and/or what cache to clean?

Thanks,
John
