System Upgrade 1.47.651..1 (21.43 MB) Now Available

Loving the update....


After a full charge, I noticed that it's been sitting at 100% for the past 45 minutes... normally I'd be down to about 90%-93%. Nice!
 
Update done. Seems to make the phone a bit faster loading and running apps. Sprint TV running a little more smoothly, but I'm not sure if that's because of a better connection. It was never bad, but it's incredibly smooth now. Speedtest results about the same, but wifi is more consistently above 2100 kbps.
 
I am new to Android and Evo is my first ever device. I heard about this new update today but I haven't updated it yet. I wanted to ensure I understand all the issues before I start updating. I have one question.

1) How do I backup the Android Stock Wallpapers to my SD Card? I heard the Android wallpapers are taken away after the upgrade. I liked few of them and would love to move them to my SD card.

Any help would be much appreciated. (I have Astro file explorer also)
 
Got my update without any issues, lost my android wallpaper folder like everyone else (sigh, farewell pretty pictures), all my apps were fine (except for shootme), and my phone is definitely notably "snappier" after the update. I'll wait on trying speedtest until Sprint's network recovers from "update-itis" later tonight.

What I have noticed.

Had the easily fixed widget issue
No Android wallpapers

WiFi now has a broader range and less "loss"
---it picks up a signal in all of the house and out on patios

Phone is snappier

Autocorrect isn't working as well.

Battery life is significantly better, I have been reading this for the past hour, checking email etc. WiFi is on and battery has dropped maybe 5%. I'll note that it was already better on this build 3 phone.....but seems even better now.

Keyboard is very laggy now, not sure why.

Haven't seen much else. Phone send to have a little more pep.

Can anyone confirm that the Android launcher is In fact gone, or do you need to delete defaults in htc sense and then stop process. If you haven't deleted defaults it will just restart itself and reload the default settings (in theory)

I prefer the htc loader myself so have not tried this

Grounding issue is not present however I had no idea what it was until today. My phone I received on launch had the issue, honestly never noticed it on this replacement I picked up two days ago.

Oh and 3g is 500-600kbps faster on upload and download. Skeptical tho I previously had not found consistent speeds on 3g. I will test 4g tomorrow when in a 4g area.

Huh, now that it was mentioned about the wall paper being changed i just checked and all my android ones are gone. I didnt use them so its no biggie to me but why would they remove those? What could that have fixed by removing them?

Maybe those particular wallpapers were causing battery drain, so they gave them the axe?

i don't know how to unroot from toast's method.

all i did was run the Sprint RUU

my phone came with x.x.x.6 but when i ran Sprint RUU it went to x.x.x.1 than said it had an update available, but it was only to x.x.x.6. than once i finished i went into system to manually check for phone update and it ofered 1.47.

so i guess i unrooted first? My phone was rooted, i ran the Sprint RUU in Toast's thread. Than went and did the updates.
 
After updating to the new software I'm getting a "error code 67 .registration failure. your PCS vision username and/or password may be incorrect" message on the phone. It's interupting a lot of things, whenever I open apps (it seems random ) it closes them. I've tried updating prl etc multiple times, and every time it says it has updated changes or whatever but it still happens after. Any idea?
 
Quick office was always there, I just noticed it about 4 days ago for the first time. The wallpapers disappearing is probably a side effect of blocking/removing the stock android 2.1 home/launcher.

No issues with my update, lost a lot of widgets, wish they said what they were. Shootme is gone :( anyone try easy tether yet? I'm out on the road right now and left my laptop behind. I need to easy tether for about 5 hours for work tomorrow and will not be happy if it isn't working.

Fyi I wasn't staring at it the whole time, but I believe the phone does not charge while updating, at least I did not see the charge light during the update.

Update took about 10 minutes, 3 to 4 reboots. No issues

To EVO customers:

An OTA, over-the-air maintenance release, software version 1.47.651.1, has been released!! You will either receive a notification on the device that an update is available, or you can check for the updated version by going to Settings > System Updates > HTC software update.


HTC EVO 4G Software version 1.47.651.1

Update includes:
  • Improvements to Wi-Fi performance
  • Exchange Active Sync improvements, including fix to issues with new account setup, PIN policy usage and Exchange Calendar 2010 Sync
  • Addresses Facebook sync issue which can improve battery performance
Download Timing:
  • Customers will be notified that an update is available. The download will take a couple minutes (depending on the device connection) and the install will take a couple minutes which includes an automatic power cycle. Download will take a couple minutes if in 3g coverage.
  • HTC servers will push the OTA update on a daily basis.
  • FOTA server will check for old software version and prompt once a day on units without the latest firmware until customer accepts.


WARNING - Rooted Devices:
  • Most likely rooted devices will not accept or even receive the update which is expected and why roots void warranty.

Wifi radio is definitely stronger.

I used wifi analyzer right before the update, I'm getting +5db signal now after the update.

Phone claimed 7MB more of free internal storage after update - possibly from dumping the wallpapers.
 
Seein's how I just got this thing on Friday, I ain't touchin' NUTHIN' for now! I need to receive some calls for a craigslist sale and don't want to take it offline for an un-specified time or risk bricking it. My airsoft team's motto is "Never Go First", and it applys here perfectly as well ;)
 
Just did my update. Only issue was that I had to remove and add the voicemail and silent on/off widgets. Other than that, it is working just fine.
 
Nothing noted on the HTC forum site. Just a few posting about bricked phones and a few asking when they will see the OTA upgrade.

You may want to "Remove" the widgets (or however it was set up, widget, App, Shortcut....etc.) and then put them back up on the page. This is what I've had to do with multi ones of mine after updating, for some reason they wasn't working anymore until I did that. This happened after doing the HTC update. All is well though after doing this though, no complaints from me :). It won't hurt to try it out. Hope it helps. Oh, and I can confirm (at least in my case), that the grounding issue is GONE.
