Good... It will make newer phones go to metro and more coverage , better pricing and it will be awesome

This is awesome news! More coverage for Metro PCS customers! (eventually)

In the announcement he mentioned that they can combine their services for the LTE phones. Can both companies have LTE service and have them work on both their networks? Is this something different than CDMA and GSM?

I look at this merger as something like the Everything Everywhere company in the UK. Not a bad thing to me.

Lmfao at Sammyz. I have like 3 or 4 Optimus M's.

Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-6

 I have OM, OV, and optiS.....my parents want to get rid of their OMs...so soon I'll have 3 OMs if they do..
All my optimus's are on the same number lol..gotta reprogram before selling..

Metro is getting bought, they aren't coming out on top of this.
If they did I'd leave T-Mobile when my contract is out

Unlimited Wireless Service - MetroPCS

About Us
October 3, 2012

To our Valued MetroPCS Customers:

Today marks an important milestone in MetroPCS history and an exciting, positive step for our company. This morning we announced that MetroPCS has entered into a definitive agreement to combine our business with T-Mobile USA. The combined company will be called T-Mobile, and will continue to operate MetroPCS and T-Mobile as separate customer units.

This combination will create the leading value carrier in the U.S. marketplace that we believe will deliver a better experience for our customers.

This can be accomplished through a wider selection of affordable products and mobile services, while leveraging the latest 4G mobile technologies, deeper network coverage and a clear-cut technology path to one common 4G LTE network. On our website you will find a copy of the press release we issued, along with a list of frequently asked questions.

What This Means for MetroPCS and Our Customers

T-Mobile, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, is a leading telecommunications company that offers a range of wireless services to consumer, business and government customers.

Through this combination, we expect to improve mobile experiences by:
Creating a faster, broader, higher capacity 4G network;
Offering wider handset choice and lower costs by building on our combined portfolio of cutting-edge products and mobile services; and
Enhancing our national footprint and offering international roaming options.

Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile have announced publicly that they intend to grow the MetroPCS brand, both through extension into new geographic areas and through the introduction of a broader product portfolio into our existing network. Importantly, MetroPCS and T-Mobile have the same network strategies and LTE networks in the same spectrum bands, which we believe will accelerate the deployment of advanced services to our customers.

In short, this transaction is expected to offer you a wider selection of affordable handset products and services, and broader and deeper network coverage

Hi! Just merged more threads on this topic together, sorry if it causes "confusion" but the same thread and topic is being posted over and over. Thanks for understanding ;)

These threads are coming up everywhere
It is a little confusing with just random replies in between, but oh well.

According to many sources metro is getting the GS3. I'm thinking that just may be what you need the best android phone available atm.

Nexus upgrade a month later + whatever else....Metro getting a few more in Jan/Feb but i think they'd be more like connect/motion...
my point is s3 will soon be dated, so we're better off this way....
...i want gsm + nfc + google wallet ++++
...a tablet would trump everything....

...so this should lead to more better choices "IF HOPEFULLY this new company allows most models for both post n prepaid, as well as switches whole network over to gsm"...

Deutsche Telekom and MetroPCS Announce Merger (Phone Scoop)

totally contradicts this one:

MetroPCS Subscriber? What the T-Mobile Merger Means to You | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

the PCmag article seems to be based on the assumption that Tmobile USA is purchasing metroPCS. the phone scoop article states the opposite. according to the phonescoop article Deusche telekom and metroPCS are(or have) worked out a deal where metroPCS is purchasing Tmobile USA.

according to the phonescoop article tmobile isnt making any moves in this deal. this is between DT and metro in how they're gonna divvy up tmobile USA and how Dt wants to give up ownership of tmobile.

metro is not being bought or sold, Tmobile USA is.

quote from the phonescoop article:
The transaction would be a reverse merger, wherein the smaller MetroPCS will acquire the larger T-Mobile USA. Deutsche Telekom would then have time to reduce its ownership of the firm through gradual equity sales rather than all at once. Initially, Deutsche Telekom will own 74% of the merged entity and MetroPCS will own 26%.

Nah I think there should be an announcement everywhere for all to see so that everyone sees the thread that's already existent instead of people starting them wherever.
