Root T-mobile; no operating system

Well, my phone works now. I'd like to extend my utmost sincere appreciation for your help, Earlymon. Here are pictures just in case someone in the future runs into this problem and stumbles across this thread:

I still might give Cyangeonmod a try despite the close call, but first, do you have any thoughts on that ROM, EarlyMon? I'll be doing additional research prior to committing to anything, but I don't want this experience to turn me off from exploring and experimenting with Android.

Make sure that you go to main settings, About, Software updates and get 1.8.0 - then make a nandroid backup.

It's fun to try new and different roms, and it's best when you have a good base to start from and fall back on. ViperOneM8 1.8.0 is exactly that.

Fwiw, I'm OK with cm roms but I prefer Viper. Everyone has their own preference. You give up hardware features when you move away from stock-based roms.

What you really want next is to get s-off so you can control your entire update experience and never worry about having boot.img flash headaches. Most importantly, you're going to have a much easier time getting firmware updates.

Your model firmware is old enough, try this -

http://androidforums.com/one-m8-all-things-root/839885-s-off-here.html

If that doesn't work, you'll have to flash yet another stock rom and get s-off using sunshine for $25.

Someone else will have to help in that case, I got s-off with firewater linked in the OP of the thread I just gave you.

Final advice, we can give the most help on future rom choices if you give us a link to the thread that you are following to get the rom. After a try or two you'll see how we match roms to firmware when it matters.

Glad I could help get you running again, enjoy your phone, don't be a stranger! :)
