Tablets?

What tablet is that?

I have just purchased a 7" android tablet running 1.5, it has a 1.2ghz cpu and 2gb rom.dont ask me what make, cos till i get it, i dont know, now all we need is , is some dev's to come up with more apps/ updates for these ever increasing number of tablets

????????

Well, I'll let you know how the tablet I bought goes for reading - 7" is not bad considering currently I read ebooks on my benq s6. I read somewhere that you can read parts of the book for free if you go inside a B&N?

I can read entire books free inside a B&N store :) On my Nook that is.

definately. I am personally going to run a full Win7 desktop on mine as my primary app. Citrix (I work for them) has a Receiver client for iphones, ipads and Android devices, which let you run all your work apps and work virtual desktops, right on the device. You have to have that stuff already running in the office to take advantage of it.

Native apps for the Android OS will be interesting. I imagine all the phone apps will be available, but not sure how well they will scale to larger displays. I suppose the devs will have to make large format versions of them, but that hould be minimal change.

I am eyeing the Lenovo Ideapad U1 (or the successor) when my laptop dies. Even though it's not running Android, I think it should be in the Tablet list if you ever get your subforum running Norril ;) One reason why I REALL like the U1 and think it's above the other Tablets is the idea that I can have a notebook AND a tablet in one.

I feel that if I buy a tablet, I still need to buy a notebook/laptop to compensate what it lacks. I mean...I cannot imagine working on my Excel sheets that contains over a doze tabs and trying to edit formulas on a tablet. I'd love to see something like the U1 catch on with other manufacturer and run Android :D

THanks Roze for posting. There were a few cool tablets like this that I did not link to, simply because it wasn't Android, but you are right, this could be a great one and I love the hybrid style. I wish all the tablets had a laptop docking option similar to this. I would want the dock to be a separate option and not required at purchase.

I don't know, the dock would be nice to have as a bonus included with the purchase - For instance, I like the ipod dock (to a certain extent), but it would be better if it could be either horizontal or vertical. Having that included in the box, rather than an accessory, would be one of the selling points. The price would not.

I'm getting a few iRobots, hopefully in the next week. Apparently they'll be running a 1ghz cpu - on par with the iPad. I'm VERY excited :)

Yes, manufacturers should do something like that. The U1 is a notebook first with the option of turning it into a tablet though, lol. I don't really see it as a dock though. When it's in notebook form, it runs Window 7, when it's in tablet form...it's running whatever OS Lenovo made. So in that sense, you're getting a Notebook AND a tablet.

So do you guys think we have enough people interested or are we few and far between right now? :(

Well I believe there are more people interested in tablets...especially android tablets right now, they might not post here since they might not know of the suggestion subforum (just found it recently myself). But if there's a Tablet subforum, I believe we'll see the traffic :) Just need to wait for Phases or Shivers to stumble upon this thread ;) Well a mod already know of it...so it's simply a waiting game atm.

I would love to see a section just for tablets. It seems the market is going to really open up this summer. I came here to see if I could find out more about some of the android options. I was shocked when I didn't see a section for tablets!

You want to link back to the forums here?

Of course you can do that. :) Just don't imply affiliation.

Sounds good, thanks! I just have had a massive surge of viewers since hitting page 1 on Google, and rather than fragment the audience, I think it would benefit everyone to be on the same forum (especially since you have a tablet section now). Much appreciated.

As Rob said, once we start seeing a conversation flow about a particular device, we'll begin making subforums as needed.
