Root Tacoroot tricky question

K long story short a few months ago did tacoroot on a replacement evo from assurion. Didn't get s-off but could flash roms and had superuser so didn't care. Problem seemed to effect my recovery more than anything. I'm quite sure I forgot to extract image files from folder. Well, wife got replacement evo and did taco root today worked great because I was pretty sure I had already knew what was wrong. I want to redo mine because while I can do what I need to it I know there is an effect from it not going 100% correct. My plan is to just do it all again, completely format phone and SD and save titanium backup files on computer and replace what I need back to SD for that. My question is, will that work? Not the titanium part, I know that will but actually just doing it all again even though I've already done it. My hboot is still 2.18 by the way. Anyone see anything wrong with this?

Also, I've been rooting and flashing for over a year now. I don't know anyone else that has root or really anyone who even knows what it is so I've never gotten to talk to anyone about it until today. This is my second post my first post I was blown away at how much help I got. All I've learned about rooting etc. was from looking online mainly this forum. If I would have known a year ago how helpful this was I would have had a lot easier road. Just wanted to say thanks guys and this really an awesome group here.

If your still S-ON I'm curious to what actually happened. You should be able to RUN the stock 4.67 RUU to get you back to a completely stock recovery and ROM to try again.

Unfortunately, I have not rooted via this method so I'm not too familiar with it :(

I am pretty curious myself how it all worked out, especially since hboot didn't change. I also know it says things like it can't access all of the external SD alot and I believe that over time dalvick and other things weren't completely wiping when I would flash

Oh and yeah I don't have my stock backup I don't think ill check in my clockwork mod folder on computer. I'm running cyanogen

Yeah, that's the guide I used, bootloader is unlocked. Able to flash roms and have SU. I can't switch from CM recovery though and things aren't deleting correctly. I've been using it this way for months cuz I work 60

Tacoroot doesn't use htc's unlocker does it? So use capn's then? If so I'll need to get to some wifi again none at home. I swear one of these days I'll remember to get it at home

yeah that was why i asked earlier. i was confused as to how you have the bootloader unlocked with taco root as you are not supposed to unlock it with taco root. you will have to use the captain's method to get s-off.

Ok, well my last evo was s-off. This one isn't but I can flash roms and have superuser/root permission. The only thing I can think of that I can't do is use another recovery besides Clockwork. I've had it this way for months now and am getting early upgrade within a few weeks so may just leave it alone. Phone runs great so I guess if its broke but not that broke don't fix it. Thanks guys, I never expected so much help when I joined AF
