Help Talk me out of taking this phone back. I'm right on the edge.

Same thing happen to me with my brand new htc rezound . Here's what i did to fix the 1x problem.

1.power phone off
2. Pull the battery off
3.pull sim card out
4.wait 30 secs
5.insert sim / battery
6 reboot

problem fixed!!!
Enjoy 4g:d

i haven't had any problems since.:d

I'm back on my extended battery again also. I keep data on, I just turned off "always on data", and I only drop a couple percent per hour not using it, without shutting off data completely, with or without an app like juice defender.

I sync a bunch of stuff including four email accounts and Twitter every 30 minutes. Extended battery handles it all.

You could buy a couple of these, at $7.00 after shipping, you should be able to get a couple....

Oh and that site only posts that sale for 24 hours.

I could get stuff like that. I just can't bring myself to do it. Like I said, I think I've been spoiled by my DInc2. I can get a day and a half on it easily with pretty moderate to heavy use. I can't kill this battery in 8-9 hours if I try.

I was spoiled by my OG Droid. I babied that battery for a year and a half, and looking back, it appears that was unnecessary most of that time.

The first Rezound I has was a piece of junk... Slower than my deactivated Dinc, rebooted itself several times, frozen screens...I was so disappointed. But I exchanged it for a new unit these is so fast, and got the extended battery. I followed the instructions for cycle charging it out of the box, and am right now at 54%, 26 hours after unpluggong it from my charging cable. And I am a heavy user... The only thing I don't do is stream movies, video, etc. But I'm a realtor on the phone all day, use my phone over computer for news, info, and now can't watch TV without IMDB on the phone screen. I used to have to charge my Dinc two or three times a day. So my suggestion is to give it a try since you like the phone itself. And exchange the unit until you get one that works. The only thing I miss about three Dinc is the track ball!

Just drop it A. This phone just isn't gonna work for you man, that always sucks but sometimes there's nothing you can do. Before the end of the summer, you'll have a quad core, Sense 4.0 device on Verizon and it'll probably be able to live up to what you need. The Rezound just isn't gonna do it, live with the Dinc 2 and wait it out.

I want it to work though as there is so much about this phone I like. It's like being in a relationship with a woman who is smoking hot, but completely insane. You want to kick her to the curb because she's a complete looney toon and no one wants that around, but you keep taking her back because she's so hot. I have a co-dependent relationship with a phone. So what.

Lol kick her to the curb. I'm speaking from experience and not in the phone dept.

Is bluetooth the only alternative for you? Are you sure you're not just in love with the technology just for the sake of having that technology on? I know some people that just absolutely have to have the bleeding edge of tech even if it's counter-productive to their needs.

...........

How is Bluetooth cutting edge? I've been using it for many years now. It's certainly nothing new.

When they're hot but insane, what you do is just plug into them and shut em up....

I was using it as an example, not something LITERAL. Some people want to use newer technology because they think newer = better even if their situation doesn't necessitate it. Wifi and Bluetooth are perfect examples. Ethernet will give you a faster connection 99% of the time but some people hear "Wifi" and automatically assume it's faster technology.

There's a sale on car charger for $1. I may pick one of them up for the work van.

I'm toying with picking up a Rezound on CL, tossing on a wireless charging back, using a wireless charger at work w/a car charger in the car. But then again, maybe not.

I successfully killed my DInc2 today in 8.5 hours. I did it with 3 hours of BT streaming and 7 hours stuck in a building where there was spotty reception at best and no reception at worst so it was constantly searching the skies for a signal.

So basically the bottom line is that you are not willing to do anything to increase the battery life, i.e. extended battery, additional battery, plug it in. Obviously you don't understand the state of 4G phones right now. They suck battery dry and quickly. Comparing a 3G phone to a 4G phone is just ridiculous as their battery consumption is vastly different. Stop saying that you love the phone and you'd like to make it work because clearly you have no intention of making it work. My advice to you is to wait 5 years or so for battery technology to catch up and get a 4G phone then. If you're not willing to compromise in any way then stop bitching about it.

I did that with the DInc, but I've gotten spoiled by my DInc2. It charges wirelessly and I never have to plug cables into it. The wireless charger is at home. I can easily get 12-15 hours on a charge. I drop it on the wireless charger when I go to bed. I've been 8.5 hours on the battery so far today. I've done BT streaming for at least 4-5 of those hours. My battery is at 41% right now. That's the kind of life I need out of my next phone regardless of what it is. I can get another 3-4 hours out of my phone streaming right now. I'll go home and it'll sit on wifi and not do much until bedtime as I'll be screwing around on the computer. I'll toss it on the charger when I go to bed and repeat the process tomorrow.

That is the kind of battery life I get out of my rezound. 4g,wifi,gps on always. Moderate use. I get 20-30 hours when on wifi all day and 12-15 when on 4g all day. Root the thing and get cleanrom its more stable than stock for cripes sake, its a daily driver with great battery life, I haven't even done a full wipe the last two upgrades(just caches) and it still has zero bugs, it takes about as much time to update the rom as a restart, and its updated all the time unlike ota once a year crap. I have a spare battery but I only swap it out like once a week on the occasional extreme use day.

This is the second time someone has suggested this particular ROM. I scammed some kid out of his phone for next to nothing so I will root this phone and toss cleanrom on it. Probably won't happen until this weekend though.

Lol because he doesn't want to cripple his smartphone you jump down his throat? Time to get over yourself there Pancho.

Btw A. Just realized the new Krait S4 that HTC is going to start featuring in their new line of LTE phones has an integrated LTE radio on a 28nm process, it will likely be leaps and bounds ahead of the current gen 4G phones, might just wait a few months.

I snagged a Rezound off CL for $225 which I thought was a steal. The 15 yr old kid selling it wanted $300 so he could buy something nice for his girlfriend (sucker. Good luck with that.) I unlocked the boot loader, but can't get clean rom to load. I've wiped data/cache and flashed the ICS version of it. It gets stuck on the HTC screen and won't go any further. I actually turned it on, left the house for a couple of hours and came back and it was still stuck. I've got a backup so I can always go back to stock, but I know that's not going to solve my problem. Is the ICS version buggy? Or does CWM just not work well on this phone? Should I be using another recovery to flash it?

Not sure honestly, but I notice a lot of people seem to use and recommend Amon recovery for this phone.

I unlocked the boot loader, but didn't want to actually flash a custom recovery. I'd been booting CWM from fastboot and was able to get a backup of Stock that way. I assumed I could wipe data/cache and flash a ROM that way as well. I'll try Amon. I've never used it before, but it can't be that difficult can it?

The menus are very similar. You will have zero probs.

Used Amon on my Eris and actually prefer it to CWM generally, you'll learn it within minutes.

Amon was easy breezy. I flashed the GB version instead of the ICS version which I had been trying before. I don't know if it was ICS that was causing the issue or the recovery I was using, but in any case, the phone is now functional. I only lack a VZW 4G sim card which I'm going to have to pick up over the weekend. We'll see how well the battery fares then.

If I'm following this correctly..... Didn't you return the phone and then bought another one days later?

The reason it didn't boot is the kernel probably didn't flash. Did the phone boot into fastboot after installing the rom?
