Tapatalk is being discontinued

I've been using the mobile site since that fateful day when TT was imploded in the name of progress. It's not bad but it is really slow. Takes a while for the animated refresh whatever it's called graphics to load and then find the last post in the thread (the ad loading probably is to blame too, not complainin', just sayin'). Sometimes it's pokey and sometimes not (I'm mostly on wifi so it's probably not my connection).

Overall though it actually works well and I don't hate it.

That's where I'd like to see this head. A bit pokie you say? No worries I will add analyze and optimize performance to list. But, it's satisfactory enough to be low prio so that will come a bit later.

Thanks for the feedback!

Admittadly I'm not following this thread too closely but.. have (any of) you tried out our mobile web version as a TT replacement?

Talk about easy and fun to use... I see no reason for TT at all really compared to this. Except of course for accessing multiple places, being in their network etc.. but thinking just AF.. I'd be curious to hear if our mobile site is missing anything to bring it up to speed :)

Logging in without Google for starters.

Yeah, I do miss the preview (but it still doesn't work on the 'real' site for the unread page anyway, no mouseover).

What I did forget that I do hate is that if you go into alerts you have to tap somewhere (not in the dropdown) to get back to the page you're on. You can't hit the back button 'cause that gets you right out of everything. I keep forgetting that so do a lot of cursing and fist shaking.

Lastest version supports native login. :)

I agree the mobile site is rather slow, this does make it somewhat annoying to use.
Also TT has/had preview showing for each thread which is very useful on a mobile device where you can't do mouseover.

Hmmmm... I bet we can come up with a clever solution for that.

I've been using the mobile site since launch and its been getting better all the time. I've submitted several bugs or suggestions and I can see that many have been resolved. Looking quite good to me tbh.

The font in the app is perfect. Looks like system default to me. There's a reason I have a system default. It's the size I want for everything.

An option to change the font would be good.

As a Tapatalk user and beta tester from Tapatalk 2, I like apps. I think I tried the mobile interface and found it confusing.

It may depend on what system font you use. On my phone it's too small (it's also smaller than almost any other text on my phone), and also being grey rather than black reduces contrast.

After trying the Forums for Android app, I have to admit I'm not a fan of it.
It also tends to freeze and crash a lot which is no fun either.
I want to be able to have a set up that's kinda close to how it is on Tapatalk. I have a participated topic section, a favorite topic section, an unread topic section and a forum section that lists the Forums and not the apps on my phone.
I'm not a fan of Tapatalk but this new app you are pushing us to doesn't seem like an upgrade to me. Honestly, I'll probablyquit posting on Android Forums if this new app is what I am forced to use.

Agreed.. Listing the apps on my phone is so stupid and an unnecessary waste of time and space. Wtf is the point of listing my apk's instead of forum channels? Lemme look up devices, not my flipping apks!

Another thing.. Why can't I access my profile/AF settings from the Forums.apk??

The app is back burner while they get the website working right.

Font in this reply box is smaller and darker than the rest of the app. Just use system default everywhere. I hate it when people force their preferred font on me.

Even with all the bugs of TT it is the only app that I use that provides me with what I need.

I downloaded the AF app and I hated it in 5 minutes of use. I don't need to have a list of my apps in there. I downloaded them in the first place so I know what apps I have.

Having it read what device I have is a good idea if I need support on my device but completely eliminating all my favorites and followed topics is just plain stupid.

You want to disconnect from TT yet have not even come up with an app that's even good enough to be even useful.

And don't tell me to use the mobile site because frankly the ads make it usually slow and unusable.

My work makes me travel a lot and I rely on mobile data 90% of the time so making me use the mobile site is pointless for me.

Once TT is no longer supported then I'll probably be only be able to browse here when I'm on my laptop which is once every 2 or 3 weeks.

The font in the app is my chosen system font, but in a very small size (smaller than the url in this browser) and a lighter grey than other apps use. If I increase my default system font size it also gets larger, but then fonts elsewhere in the system are larger than I like.

@Phases you mention that you guys can build a better product and I agree that you can, but the current Android Forums app is not a better product.
Tapatalk does suck in many ways but the ease of how I am able to browse and use AF is not one of those ways.

Making long posts saying you hate the app is not useful. The app is on the back burner right now.

Phases wants to know why you don't like the mobile site.

Okay, the new mobile site.
I like it about as much as I like the new AF app. It's basically the same thing. I don't want or need a list of my apps on the page. Then throw in the stuff I added earlier about the ease of browsing/using Tapatalk to access AF and that what I think....

Actually, it's not on the back burner. We have dedicated staff for the app and dedicated staff for the website - and staff that work both. I'm on the website side of things mostly. App is in full development every day :) ..but not by me and I don't track the issues either.

You have to take the time to add/remove favorites, and get to know the site, what all everything does. I think give it some time, after setting up favorites and messing with various views, you will come to like it.

All that said guys - THIS thread was just to announce discontinue of TT. I do not follow issues, bugs, or recommendations on this thread. Steve may for the app, but - if you want to list issues with the website, desktop or mobile, do it here:

Dude! [emoji49] When we reported issues on that thread, you complained it was for the website only! I even asked you for the proper thread because of your complaint and got no freaking response. Not you, not @Rob, not @stevealbright ... Was very much ignored so I brought the questions here. Make up ur mind or at least respond correctly. This AF apk is already a PITA without you listening to us. [emoji41] Wanna improve it? Listen to what we're telling ya
Edit: See Post #130 & 140
