I have had my phone sleeping correctly for three days. Today I installed task killer, and it hasnt slept since. I tried to uninstall it, but no luck. I reset the phone and only installed handcent and its normal again. I also noticed my battery was lasting very well untill i installed task killer....shortly after installing..the battery was dropping quickly.

I noticed that too. On a stock Hero my phone up time was around 60%. After Advanced Task Killer it was at 100%. I noticed Sprint Navigation kept waking up even though I wasn't using it.

I WONT reinstall task killer. i'm thinking this is alot of other peoples problems. alot of people are recommending a task killer. i'm gonna stay without it to see what happens...i will be posting back in a few days. i'm at 21% currently. only app installed is hand cent. I will re-install apps i had 1 at a time to see if any others have an effect on it.

Same here. I uninstalled because my battery life sucked worst (advertised to make better last longer, boo). On top of that, I noticed between ATK and other programs were slowing down my phone.

ATK works great on my phone and does not keep it awake. I stay at about 15 percent awake time on my phone and most of that time is me texting or talking on the phone. My battery lasts from when I wake up at 7am until when I go to bed at midnight. ATK helps speed my phone up by allowing me to kill off tasks.

I have seen Taskiller Keeping my phone awake i uninstalled adn reset to factory

prob has something to do with paging intervals not respecting power management

I just did a clean reset as well and did not re-install task killer. I'm gonna see how the phone (any my life) is without constantly opening up the app and killing things. I think I was getting a little obsessed over apps running that I not did open.

I had just the same problem and even about the same percentage as you do (30-35%). Thanks to MichaelW's tip I tried and removed the Task Killer !!!widget!!! from the desktop. I am roughly at 15% now when i removed the widget but left Task Killer installed. The widget definetly does make a problem at keeping the phone from sleeping.

I have Samsung Galaxy btw.

I am running at about 13-15% awake time and been at that for several days now. I use ATK but do not use the widget (didn't know it had a widget). I use Handcent for my SMS and I have my personal mail account updating every 5 minutes and my exchange account set to push immediately. My battery lasts from when I wake up till when I go to bed unless I spend a lot of time talking on the phone that day, which is a given.

We just figured out about the Task Killer widget problem and while I was doing more research i stumbled upon this topic. 13-15% should prolly be ok, i will update here too with new stats. I just removed Task Killer and installed Advanced Task Killer (these are 2 different applications, with this i am not saying that Task Killer without using widget is a battery drain, I personally just wanted to try another application for apps killing).

Advanced Task Killer doesn't seem to have a widget so that is why you can't find it ;)

So you are telling me my 29% Awake time is high? I dont see it that way, in fact i think its probably spot on. I am constantly doing something on my phone. Whether its playing music, web browsing, texting, email, yadda yadda yadda...

On a side note. When i had posted the 36% uptime i had just started using TasKiller, and thats the highest ive seen my awake time, but like i said im down to 29% now.

My awake time is 8%
And I have ATK, I dont even know why I have it, I only use Task Control, which is just as good, and I would say even better

I use task control, I was just trying to say, that % is just amount of time you use it starting from when you turn on your phone

Sorry, i saw and quoted before you had edited your post. Im aware of what awake time is. Im just wondering if 25%-35% is a lot? Because honestly my phone spends more time in my hands than it does anywhere else. So im thinking that around 30% for me is quite accurate. Perhaps i will try Task Control for a week, and see what my awake time is.

And just because you have it means nothing in this discussion, cause if you aren't using of course it isn't keeping the phone awake, ya know?

thanks. sprint navigator keeps appearing even when I do not use it. Any ideas why?

Nope, im wondering as well. Do you turn your GPS on and off? Perhaps with a 'toggle'? I think it might be starting 'sprint navi' when the GPS chip is activated, but i havent done any tests or anything...

I agree with not using Task Killer. When I had it running all I would do is close programs and then find them open again later.

I stopped using it and just let my phone manage itself. I think it does a better job and actually stays pretty quick most of the time.

I also always saw sprint navigation open as well. Wish that didn't happen.

well i havent re-installed it since the original post....and the battery lasts alot longer and my awake time is at 8% currently. The last time since i cut the phone off and them back on was over two days ago....hence the 8%...... its been able to sleep for two full nights. I will not re-install task killer for sure now. I have had no problems since uninstalling it. I seem to think this is a problem app.

I use Advanced Task Manager and I haven't had any issues with it. I don't have it on automatic kill of tasks and I have a few applications set on exclude. Let's see HTCIQ Agent, Clock, providers.htccdma, OMADM.

i'm new to the forum and a new HTC Eris user trying to understand the lack of life the battery has.

i looked up my awake time in settings and see that it's at 91%. how did you guys get it down so much without the task killer?

i have wifi/gps/bluetooth off.
